Finally finished this lil kit up, overall im not that impressed going by the price of it, too many innaccuracies and just not big enough i guess, but then im more studio biased anyways. Ive tried to replicate some sort of studio miniature, although im new to pastels and i feel more at home painting larger models, hope you like it guys.......Lee

I think you've done a great job. Personally I can't wait to start building mine. I haven't had time yet to inspect every detail yet but what's inaccurate about it?

Cheers,

Steve.

Thanks fellas, well Steve we all know about the mandible angle thing, but to me the dish looks too small and somehow the cockpit doesnt look right, im not really whining about the bugbears of the kit, just the price and the size of it i guess, that coupled with its innaccuracies just niggles me a bit. That said its a wonderful little plastic kit, but thats all it is, for $200 or whatever its just a small plastic kit. I mean to the british pound, its almost half what my probe droids costing... Guess im just hard to please if its not studio scale lol.

I think you did a damned impressive job on it. :thumbsup I hope I can make mine look half as good.

Hey there, base color is a mixture really, the hull was primed in flat black, then a coat of tamiya buff and deck tan mix. Final coat is tamiya dark yellow, it looks the real deal in the flesh buddy. Then again why not get hold of the floquil grime, its what was used on the props. Hope thats of some help, cant wait to see your lil bird, its been a great thread.....lee

Cool man -- thanks.

Grime? Or Concrete...?

Funy you mention it. Concrete is what I've heard, and after seeing the MR bird in person I thought you may have used Concrete too.

But Concrete seems just a tad too rich for the smaller scale FM kit. So I was considering using a mx of Grime and Concrete.

Thing is i think grime would nail it, even on the lil FM. I struck lucky by using a black undecoat, it dulled all my base color and didnt make it too vibrant considering the colors i was tinkering with. Maybe try grime, if it seems too "warm", mist it with the concrete? Could be a plan?........lee

Thanks Dean -- that fits right in with my "gut feelings" on it...
