Flying Aliens Dropship

So here's my flying Dropship, I'm trying to work on either getting permission from Fox to make and sell these myself or get a hold of a company to work with me on making them. Either way I'd really like to figure out how I can sell these and figured I'd share. So if you have any advice on how to go about doing this let me know. I've been trying to ask around various forums so thank you for letting me crash yours.

I hope this doesn't go against the trying to sell rule since I'm not trying to sell or advertise, I'm just trying to figure out how to get them out to the public... legally and you know eventually get paid for coming up with something this awesome

These pics are of my prototype and as you can see she's taken a beating in the tuning process

LOL, yeah I don't think the FAA will take away my license if I was intoxicated and flying this though.

Glad to see you here. Your Dropship is just pure awesome. If you do build a smaller version you need to document the build process with lots of pictures! Welcome aboard!

Not wanting to spoil what is a fantastic job you've done , but shouldn't there be the extending wings? I just know you have a good reason for not including them, but I do have to say it is by far the best flying model I've seen - and I want one!!! I am sure many other Alien collector's will too. My only model is a die-cast accurized model on a original Sullaco floor tile ! I did try to bid on the S/S scale drop ship but was beaten to the post , your's looks close - more details please.

I love it. (And yeah, if you can get the wings to deploy that'd be cooler still.)

If you're going to put a logo on it, I suggest "We endanger wallets." :)

Absolutely, this one was a proof of concept. I'd like the weapons pylons to be on servos but right now weight is the issue on this one, the front pylons are hinged and I can deploy them but I have to pin them out. I'm currently in the process of making a scaled down version so I can add more bells and whistles. The version above is 42" long.

In the Studio scale model the folding wings were servo activated , with a second linear actuator rod that locked each wing into position, automatically once they were unfolded. the first servo triggering the second servo sequence , I completely understand about the weight, hope you are able to fix or compensate for this, the wings also had servo flaps deployment as well. Pity they never built it to really fly , although it was aerodynamically designed to fly . Essentially it was hung on a frame in front of a moving rolling background, studio SPFX added smoke, wind etc to simulate the atmosphere the ship was flying through.

If you can figure out how to spit out an APC from the underbelly that would awesome!

Neato though - let us know how it goes. The potential for cockpit modding and lighting is awesome too!

Not detracting from your Dropship for one second , the more you can get this to aerodynamically mimic the model the better as an R/c enthusiast , I'd kill for one of those , let's hope you get something worked out and it's priced properly as I'd definitely buy one !.

Sorry to clarify what I meant , the Dropship as filmed is meant to drop from space/upper atmosphere at high speed , then deploy wings and circle and select landing site for vtol landing , which clearly yours does beautifully , so I'd want to fly it wings deployed . So if I were demoing this I'd take it up high , power dive and flatten out , circle and land at the feet of any amazed spectators who all be going -wwwhatt just happened???

Ahhh... gotcha, yes this is the prototype and she's been pretty beat up just in getting her tuned. MK II is almost complete and ready for paint, the only issue for deploying the weapons pylons right now is a matter of weight. With MK II I'm hoping to be able to have the wings deploy at least in a manual sense (think when it's on the ground you pull a string to have them out or in), if all goes well with this version however I will integrate the electronic deployment, again it's all dependent on the weight right now, but I am totally working on it. Also if you recall "Smart Ass" (the second dropship that Bishop pilots) never deploys her wings during the drop off and pick up of Ripley. Blah blah blah I know what you mean though. If everything fails with this version I'll at least have the weapons pylons out for the videos.

Right , but you are going to do landing gear and APC ramp ?? these should be pretty simple servo control elements Can't wait to see weapon pods !!
