First Time Iron Patriot Foam Build

Hey guys and girls, This is my first time doing anything like this. This all started when my son got into Iron Man, So if my son wants me to be Iron Man for Halloween, then I will be Iron Man. So far its been a month and 1 week since I have started. The suit is 99% done, just need to make the cannon. I am also having a bit of a problem with the paint. I did the whole 5 layers of PVA glue and 2 coats of primer then 2 coats of paint. On some parts it looks really good, but on other parts the paint looks as it has no shine. especially the red looks pink on some parts. Doing a re primer on those parts to see if it will fix it if not I have no idea what to do. Any tips will be appreciated.

Just a update on the parts. Got a few of them painted, still need to mask a few parts to get it right. On another note, my son is ready for Halloween, but I will be making him a helmet since I don't like the ones that come with the suit.

Just a small update, instead of diffusing the lights with sand paper how some people do it, I just bought Frost Glass and sprayed it with one layer on the outside. You can add more layers to it to make it more diffuse. The thing that I like about this is that the frost glass can be removed easy. I will upload a video of the lights working. Since I didn't wanted the lights to be always on I made it pressure sensitive. So I can turn the lifts by adding pressure to the palm and it turns on and off wen no pressure is applied. Also can have it always on by clicking it on.

It's coming along.....

Decided to start making new eyes for the helmet using my trashed helmet. No more LED lights. Using another method that will power the eyes and arc. No diffusion required.

I have been taking my time on finishing up the cannon. Got the main cannon finish just need to make the base for it.

As you can see I put my looxcie 2 video camera inside of the cannon so that I will be able to record everything when I wear it at my works Halloween contest. Records in 320p or 480p

looking pretty good, what type of paint are you using on your foam?
im new to the prop building but im fairly experienced in building many random things and have noticed the plastidip does wonders on foam and plastics.

No plasti dip. Just pva glue. My next build will be with plasti dip. As far as paint goes, I am using dupli color.

Came out pink instead of victory red. So I had taken Stealths advice that he gave me on fb and added gloss to it.

So if anyone else has the same issue remember to buy gloss , 1 or 2 coats should do it. But if you over do it it will become hard and crack way faster. Just a tip.

I was plagued with this problem on my last build. I think the problem I had was not sealing the foam well enough (I used plastidip). Another fix for it you might want to try is to do several really thin coats (extremely thin, like just a quick spray across the piece). That worked for me.

I was using Glue mix with water. But its fix now. I hard plasti dip you are suppose to use 2-3 coats and you should be fine? Will try plasti dip on my next build, Mark 7
