It's been a LONG time coming but I finally was able to overcome my ADD and finish a project! My first completed prop is Samus Aran's Arm Canon from Metroid Prime. I'm sorry I don't have a lot of pics or pics of the build but I do have the final video demo:

I am trying to refine the process of builds so now that it is complete, I did a post-project review and made some lists (I hope the lists make Adam Savage proud, lol! )

Skills involved / learned -
Painting
Cutting
Pattern Making
Electronics -
Soldering
Desoldering
Microcontroller programming
Lipo Battery
Battery Charging board
Wiring
Circuit Design
Foam
Gluing
Contact Cement
Hot Glue Gun

Skills I need to improve on -
Soldering
Desoldering
Pattern Making and Fit

Improvements in next iteration -
LED Channels on screenshots are not Even - need to fix this in next iteration
Use better sized wiring - easier to hide
Slow down and take my time to get edges / transitions finished better
PLAN PLAN PLAN first!

Please comment with things you like and/or things you think I could do better!

Very cool, especially all the new skills learned.

For such simple shapes you might want to consider PVC pipe so it can be made super clean on the seams, surfaces and it will be a lot stronger.

Not sure I understand. The base is 3" PVC Pipe with a 3"-2" reducer coupler and then covered in EVA foam for the shapes.

I would ditch the foam.
It will break down or get damaged easily.
It also distorts if left sitting on something to long.

Layer up more pipe for the details.

Personal preference. :)
If it's a solid object, make it solid.
