Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, some amazing artists and costumers on here. My names Josh and this seemed like a good reason to finally post on here. Got back from tour with the band on Sunday and my friend challenged me to make A Ninja Turtles Costume In time for Halloween, Sorry there Isn't more pictures, I can take a bunch tonight once its all finished , this is where I'm at so far.
It consists of:
3 Double sized foam matresses :Cost: 8$ @ usedvictoria.com
2 double sized Bed sheets, Cotton : Cost: free from a closet in my place.
200 sticks of hot glue. :Cost: 20$ Wallmart.
2 gallons of liquid latex :Cost: $240 Industrial paint and plastics, Had to buy a 5 gallon pale, lots of left overs.
6 acrylic paint tubes. :Cost: $30 Wallmart.
1 Camelbak water pack :Cost: 40$ Sportchek
Total cost for all materials, we'll round up and say 350$, first place at most costume contests in town, 500+ . Wooop.
Step 1 : Sculpt and glue the foam into the right shapes.
Step 2 : Cover the foam sculpts with Bed sheet material. (no pics up yet sarry.
Step 3 : Pick the color your turtles going to bed and mix the acrylic paint in with your latex, And get painting/ heat gunning.
Step 4 : Build a turtle head, Super annoying to make from scratch (7 hours) P.S the mouth moves I'll upload a video later on.
Step 5 : go back in with color colors and some sponges and add the detal
Annnd that's where I'm at right now. Tonight is the finishing touches, Build all the elbow/ knee pads, a belt etc etc. Get some Velcro to anchor all the parts together. Make a pouch in the shell for the camelbak, which I will half freeze to keep me super cooled, and can drink inside the head.
I'll update tomorrow and let you guys see the finished 5 day build. any Questions just ask.
