Got this just today. Hot off the presses. Pictured here are the hero firing blaster from the movie, and a factory sample of the replica.

Question is: which one is which???????

Question for you guys: what's a good price for this? This is for MY Personal curiousity here. I'm not doing market research for the company :) And don't tell me what you WISH it would cost, but what you think would be a fair price. I mean, it would be great if it was $22.50. But that's not realistic. Do you think $500 is about right for a replica that has a working trigger, working electronics, cast from an original, with some metal parts??? Compare it to other similar offerings, and let me know what you think.

Please note, I'm in NO WAY associated professionally with the company offering this blaster. I'm just the messenger. Nor am I aware of what the final price will be. I'm just trying to have a conversation about the Fifth Element... something I LOVE to do......

I'd guess the top one's the replica, and I'd throw three hundred bones at it, but the missus is five months pregnant. Six months ago, I'd have said I'd be in for one at $500. :)

Top one is the hero.:D

looks very good. How does it feel?

Depend on what the working electronics are. If its just a few flashing leds, so-so. If it has kickass circuitry designed with function in mind then i'd be will to accept a higher price point.

I'd feel more comfortable in pursuing my interest with a price closer to $350 than $500. provided we are talking about just the pistol, no signature, no display or diaplay case.

My thoughts are these. I have a few guns from X men I'm selling at $600 a piece. I am the original maker and it came out of the original molds. Some of my parts were CNC others were Laser cut, no working trigger. But it's not a replica. That gun looks very nice but it was cut on a 2 axis machine as you can tell. There is no real shape other than blocks that were cut out of square or round stock. I usually like things a little more shapely than that. That is strickly my point of view. I think $500 is perfect for this piece. I truly think the prices of replicas and the amount of work that goes into them is not always fair myself.

I love Fifth Element, I actually watched it today. My favorite is the big one with all the mussles, rocket launcher, etc.

$300 sounds not too bad to me, over that and I wouldn't be able to buy one. Passed on the MR guns for the same reason, but this is much cooler.

Subject matter will make these are hard sell on the outside.

$500 would be pushing it but in the $250 range might help it move.

I'm not basing this on the quality or the functionality, it is solely based on the popularity of the movie

You talking about ME, or about MATT...?

Sorry -- couldn't resist.

is that a Vector handgun?

A-ffirmative.

$250 is about the limit on blasters for me. And the 5th Element isn't exactly mainstream.

I see this as a poor choice for a licensed item. Your average human isn't going to give a hoot about this blaster.

Limited appeal. Not for the masses. Hope it's a small run.

Big surprise. The first two wet blankets in the thread are boba debt and micdavis :lol

But hey, you know me. I'm STOKED about this. Sure, it's not Lord of The Rings or Star Wars. Still, I'm all over it. I'm sure there are a few collectors who will be too. If you're not, that's cool. Good to hear your side of the fence represented. At the end of the day, it will be the wallets that do the talking, and not the voices of us geeks with keyboards. :)

Just calling it as I see it. Ease up man. I know it's your baby.

You asked I answered.

You know I love ya, stud. :)

What BD (and MicDavis) said.

Don't get me wrong..I loved the movie. But the overall appeal to the masses is slim. (Hell..I bet you have to remind Bruce Willis that he did this movie. ;))

Seriously...based on the movie's overall commercial appeal, over $250.00 would be a stretch.

If the price is $300-$350 I will get to own an awesome replica from one of my favorite movies. If it's in the $500 range, it will be yet another of the dizzying number of props that I will never possess, as long as life keeps conspiring against me. So while I would be disheartened at a $500 price tag, I wouldn't call it unfair or outrageous.

You asked for opinions, did you want me to be honest or did you want me to pi$$ on your leg and tell you it's raining?

The top one is the replica - needs a thin sheet of white plastic over the counter LEDs :)

I can't comment on price - I bailed out of the bidding on one of the hero guns at the profiles auction at $10000.

$250 sounds a little light when you can pay $100 (or more) for a single piece unfinished casting of other non Star Wars guns.

I'll buy one just to see how close I got with mine...

if it makes that high pitched 'whine' sound, then i'd pay 250.00 for it.
if it doesn't make that high pitched sound, i wouldn't be interested..

Ya know... I'm beginning to wonder myself... Now if this was something from Bridget Jone's Diary, then I'd be ALL over it. ;)

I personally LOVE this piece. Yes, I like the movie very much, but the gun just looks cool as hell.

With that being said, I gotta side with BD and Mic.
I have too much crap as it is, and it makes me question pieces of my collection when people have no clue what it is even when I tell them when and where it was used...and they STILL don't remember the piece though they've seen the movie. :confused
I don't think (IMO) the movie and piece are strong enough to warrant the price tag.
