Good point! That’s certainly possible. I’m just putting my two cents in since it looks like a MR based on the emitter dimple. I have no inside info on what props they used for the show, but I’m enjoying everyone’s input. MR lightsabers are definitely more my forte, but it’s tough to be certain with these shots. I will say this, the Anakin lightsaber looked huge in the shot in the show. The real filming “Hero” prop in Episode II and the MR was considerably smaller in comparison to other hilts.

The increase in size is from absorbing the souls of the tuskens, and not just the men but the women and the children too.

It looks as though they couldn't be bothered to get the fit right. In the prequels they had all kinds of attachment points to keep the layers in the correct places, which they seem to have omitted here. The Tabards are tacked to the collar instead of the shoulder (like in the PT) which makes the Tabards sag in an ugly way like they do here. The Inner tunic is practically falling out from below the Outer Tunic as well. The lack of shoulder pads and or reinforcement to the shoulder tucks make the costumes appear to be slipping of Ewan and Hayden.

I don't hate it but I certainly see what you mean, it's presumably due to making Light-Up Sabers the new standard prop since they don't require as much work with Special Effects. I don't like the spark thing either it's just one of those things that irrationally irks me, I wish they'd go back to doing the split second flashes of light when the Sabers clash that Ep I-VI did.

It's not a "Disney" decision, it's just the timing of things. I'm not giant Disney fan, but we have to stop saying every detail we don't like was a conscious decision made by the ghost of Walt Disney to hurt us.

That said-- you're not wrong at all about the sabers. This is purely due to the stunt blades now being able to be lit. From ESB to TFA they were animating over narrow stunt blades. In ANH we had the scotchlite tubes, which as we know, required light contact. AOTC, ROTS and TFA all did close ups with lit blades for effect lighting and reflectiond. But starting with TLJ, they began dueling with lit stunt blades. Now instead of animating over thin rod, they have to cover a 1" practical glowing rod. So you have the thickness AND the fact there is real light on top of the animated glow. It defintely makes for thiccsabers.

They used lit stunt blades for the Kylo-Rey fight in TFA.

Agree with all you say. The only thing Disney has done with Star Wars that I’ve enjoyed is Rogue One and The Mandalorian. I typically say “Disney” since they own the IP, but I know they don’t make these small decisions haha. I thought lightsabers looked the best in Episode 1 actually. They looked like a more updated version that still looked like the OT. Starting in Episode 2 when everything was shot on digital, the lightsabers started looking almost 2D without as much volume. By Episode 3, the lightsabers were too ”CGI’ed” in my opinion.
 
The fabric may be thinner, but it's the lack of structure within the Outer Tunics that make them look and drape the way they do. If they'd added a proper shoulder tuck, with padding, as they were in the Prequels, then they wouldn't looks so baggy and unflattering. Not to mention they tacked the top of the tabards to the collar instead of the shoulder itself, which is the correct method.

The shape should look more like this: Granted this is a Revenge of the Sith version, but the shape should look about the same. Notice the shadow.

You know me, I have to correct that they did use scotchlite in ESB, as well as paint. ROTJ was mostly paint. I agree with this. Remember the Ep 1 duel where they moved in front of the energy beam and they washed everything out, almost showing us the “skeleton” of the lightsaber blade without the glow? Yea, having to cover such a fat tube takes away some of the elegance and sword-ness of it for me
 
Sagging tabards, inner tunic falling out of the outer tunic. Wig all out of place and weird.... yeah this wasn't a very flattering was to dress them for a flashback. At the very least if they'd used more closures to keep the layers in place.
