Hey Gang! Here's those other pics...
Do we know which real parts saber they had?
At the beginning of the show i had showed one of the art directors a pic of all three of my all real parts obi sabers. He asked me to send him my pics which he forwarded to the prop master and producers. They wanted to see them so i brought them in. The prop master was completely on board. And wanted to rent one. It was looking like it was gonna happen. But after about three months he hit me up and said that the producers wanted to go a different route with the saber even though he strongly disagreed. And that was that. I was so close to having one of my sabers on screen. And i have no idea what "go another route" means so this is going to be a surprise for all of us.
And now I feel obligated to ask details on your balance pipes, sir#AnakinStarkiller Thats one of the pics i sent them

wait 89 is a recaster? The emitter plate looks a little thinner than a real BP and the bottom-most section looks a little wider. I was wondering if they might have based the emitter on a converted male BP?
89. No thanks. I try not to support recasters.
Somebody in the know posted about this recently, but they actually DON'T have access to the original props. The archives are apparently still owned by Lucas himself and were not included in the deal. While there is communication and some synergy, certainly production design people on these new shows can get access for research, time permitted-- but they aren't checking out any props. All that stuff is locked into museum rotations and what not.Why would they use outside sources when they have the original sabers and scans of the original sabers? I had some props scanned last year by a company that does a lot of work for ILM and they had just finished scanning Lukes ROTJ saber for them.
What droid is this? I’m digging it so far
if they wanted that data they could get it, but they could Google images up in a quicker and easier fashion. I don’t know about the asset pipeline, so I couldn’t say for sure. But I’m pretty sure the effects work for the D+ shows is a combination of in-house and farmed out to boutiques. I don’t know if ILM is involved. Prop work these days tends to be contract work, so you may not have the same teams working on each production sharing info. In theory, yes, Lucasfilm should own the stuff. I think we’ve spotted some of the ST stunt sabers in use on Mando, but most times it is quicker for in the incoming prop team to do their own thing.Interesting, so if ILM used scans of the sabers for their digital doubles when making the prequels then the Kenobi crew would have access to those? ILM still have access to all the scan data they have created over the years when Lucas owned, or does he control that also?
Is it more akin to a male to female convert?View attachment 1554661
Here's my latest render testing out a OWK ROTS body with a not quite ANH emitter to see how it matches. This emitter is slightly thinner and narrower than a real derwent. LMK what you think
It's a similar droid to K-2SO from Rogue One. Presumably a precursor model.
That's one of the ideas I had.Coul
