First attempt at cosplay.

I was going to try cosplay this year and I am going to attempt yuuko from xxxholic. I can't get any fabric that's exact to what she wore for her kimono, but she wore so many different outfits i was wondering if it would be ok to make something close.

Yes, it's fine to get close. It's your cosplay. Do it how you want. When you go to cons, you'll see people with a wide range of costumes, from screen accurate reproductions to simple painted boxes. If this is your first costume, have fun with it and try to learn a new skill.

The amazing reproductions you see here are from some of the best crafts people in the world. You can aspire to that level, but you don't have to start there.

I once saw someone cosplaying Thorin from The Hobbit. His costume was so good, I thought he was a cardboard theater display until he moved.

I'd like to get to that level some day.
