Firefly/Serenity Zoe pistol-carbine

I'm going to use a replica Winchester M1892 for my conversion:

I'll just re-bend the loop to make it resemble the TV-used version a little more. :D

I've updated my Zoe Mares leg by buying a second Denix, mix and matching the parts and,

Viola!, one from the show and one from the movie,
neither perfectly accurate!

I don't like the Serenity version as well, but the brass scope thing and the mount I machined for it came out so well, I've come to like it.

I have a few collection additions on both pages at my main collection thread,

My goal is to have a decent display for Farpoint 2009.
Alan Tudyck is scheduled to appear at this small, intimate fan-con.

Outstanding! I was going to do one from a Denix, but in the end I went with a resin one from Wilco. Mine's nice, but I really, really, wish I had put the work into going the Denix rout. I mean, it's real metal and wood, and has working "action" you can't beat that for the price.

More Firefly/Serenity necro-posting!
I replaced broken picture links and I'm tossing in Zoe's back-up pistol to bring this thread up to date:

Zoe's back-up pistol.

She wore this in a crossdraw holster.
I only recall seeing it pulled in the TV pilot Serenity, tho she often wore it.

I bought a Denix 1860 Colt and cut it down to match Zoe's.
I also machined the grip screws to actually work, i.e. thread together,
because the original Denix screws are fakes swagged together.

Some bondo and paint...

But, to get it back together, it is necessary to build a little fixture to support the internal mechanism
until you get the cover on to hold everything in place.
The "pins" in the fixture are number drills and the holes in the fixture are only a .001" bigger or so.
This way, you can assemble the action around the pins, put the cover on,
and then push the pins out with the original screws.
I was really pleased with how this worked, so I'm keeping the fixture in case I need to disassemble my Zoe pistol in the future.

I also printed up Altrans tickets for "Mr. Malcolm Raymond" and "Mrs. Zoe Raymond",
along with a baggage claim ticket.
I have a spare set of Zoe dogtags like the ones in my Mal and Zoe Amnesty display.

Very cool, I did one of those back up pistoles too, but my paint job is a bit different.

I also picked up one of the Wilco Zoe carbine. It's a very nice kit, but I would still like one with real metal, and wood like yours.

Does anyone have the dimensions of this gun? I'm planning a scratchbuild but most of the dimensions I've seen online aren't for the Firefly version. They have longer stocks and/or longer barrels. I pretty much just need the overall length and width of the receiver and I can scale the picture for the blueprint.

You're too lucky that you have both versions of Zoe's Mare's Leg! Truly a must-have for me! Once I get around to it...

loving the weaponry, need to find something in the uk for a base to the leaver action rifle. not easy to get replicas cos of replica fire arms laws. luckily i have ukara license so i can buy replica airsoft rifles but not seen anything like this grrrr will prob have to find a toy to mod

Sorry I haven't responded to this thread.
I'm not online as much as I used to be, and it passed before I saw it;
a few times, evidently.

It wouldn't really help for me to post dimensions,
because my replicas are the sizes they are because of the base guns I used.
The owner of one of the real stunt replicas from Firefly will have it at the 2011 Browncoat Ball Prop Museum

Because I'm taking some of my prop collection to the 2011 Browncoat Ball Prop Museum,
I want to have some nice displays finished.

One that I'm working on, when I can, is for Zoe.
The Zoe display will be a case for her three main weapons,
the Firefly Mare's Leg,
the BDM Serenity Mare's Leg
and the Firefly pistol she carried in the cross-draw holster.
This pic shows the foam "nest" I made, now I need to find matching brown fur to upholster it.

I've actually finished this, just haven't taken a pic, yet.

I finished the Zoe travel case by sewing two pieces of the original fur together.
I couldn't find a close match, so I had to c-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y strip the original fur off an interior panel.
I can see the seam, but it isn't real noticeable unless you know to look for it.

Some day I'd like to correct the buttstock on the BDM Serenity carbine, but if I never get to it,
that's OK, too.

Mate these look fantastic! I'm about halfway through scratch building the small ring rifle for a friends 21st party as a present, using copper pipes for the barrel and magazine tube, cut, sanded, routed, sanded, measured and sanded wood blocks for the stock receiver and foregrip, and I have some aluminium block I'm cutting out and filing to act as a lever trigger and hammer. As it will be more of a show piece having it "operate" wasn't on my friends priority list (making my to do list significantly shorter)
I've hit a few knowledge base (and wallet depth) walls currently, just figuring out the receiver and how to make it paint up as metal like as possible at the moment.
