Firefly Jayne's Revolver

I know I would love to buy the parts.. :D

What did you use to attach the piece to the top of the barrel?

thanks

I used some small 'star' headed bolts I had lying about - prob not accurate but they stop it from falling off :)

The trigger guard i'm looking at buying, but i'll prob have a crack at making one too.

Slots and hole cut in bottom. Slots are a NIGHTMARE to do... :angry

[attachmentid=7211]

...and I need one more slot on each side :unsure

That looks so very sweet.

I'd be more than happy to jump on a parts (machined or raw) bandwagon. I've got Denix too but haven't gotten' around to working on a conversion.

Thanks. And keep up the awesome work.

I agreed. Great work so far. Kep the updates coming.

Having given up on hand cutting slots as they tend to end up a bit banana-ish. I have converted my Lathe to a miller and have got lovely straight and even slotability now.
So i'm starting again on the under barrel.

Slot by hand:

Eeeew.

Slot machine (ignore the large ends, that was me fiddling):

[attachmentid=7257]

Luverly.

New part on left , old on right. Need to cut the three chamfers on the bottom of the new part and remove a wedge at the top for it to fit on the denix.

Underbarrel mostly done. Needs a bit of emery work still though.
Parts loosely fitted together:

Parts seperate:

Triangular shroud piece is next :)

Do you have an idea as to how the shroud attaches to the gun? I seem to remember it being hinged.

Triangular part almost complete:

[attachmentid=7331]

Made it from a solid piece of Ally, forming from thin sheet was just too difficult due to the shape.

Triangle piece finished and placed in position:

Next is making the takedown lever and attaching it to the Denix and the triangular shroud.

SAS

Got bored of the triangular area, so started in on the trigger guard:

Old TG chopped off with hacksaw and bench grinder (incorrect lanyard ring gone too):
[attachmentid=7359]

Beginings of an ally armature:
[attachmentid=7360]

An evening's milliput sculpting and a blast of black spray this am:
[attachmentid=7361]

A real cavalry TG for comparison:
[attachmentid=7362]

No way was I carving that complex shape out of ally.

SAS

Threw all the parts together for a comparison to a std Denix:

[attachmentid=7363]

Had to grind the trigger tip off as it was fouling the guard. Red ball on end of rod is from an xmas cracker puzzle. No takedown lever or lanyard ring as yet.
