Since people seemed to dig my 1/18 HO-229 http://www.therpf.com/f11/horten-fl...mpleted-pics-5-28-a-143724/?highlight=HortonI thought I could share my Luft '46 1/18 TA-183:

Washing parts.

Dremmeling out the nose intake.

Fitting the rear exhaust.

Test fitting the canopy.

The kit I bought doesn't come with a cockpit so I am making a very simple one for display.

Quick test fit.

Filling and sanding done, whew!

y2Op4EN.png

Primed with self etching primer, a must for fiberglass IMO.

W0aBZjd.png

Painted panel lines, not my best work. Too much coffee? Too many beers? Must be liquor, because I don't recall.

scjNo57.png

Aluminum bits, I wish I would have used Modelmaster instead of Tamiya.

rKoQJ2p.png

Fins! Lots of fins! Another poor paint choice.

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Wow! I love these models... I have a soft spot for Luft '46 stuff. My very first resin kit was a Planet Models Blohm und Voss plane I built in 1997. Good times.

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Thanks Moffeaton, glad someone is interested.

My belly belly.

CsDtbRb.png

I'm all about the base.

OPVFCfE.png

Camo, I tried a new technique for the edges. Not sure I like it, especially along the rear of the fuselage. Thoughts?

Defense of Reich band and some insignias. It's been a while since I used stencils I forgot a light hand is better than a heavy one.

Rudolph the red nosed Nutzi.
The kit's maker is fabricating a new, smaller more accurate canopy.

Quick update for black painted markings. Not that anybody on the board cares...lol

Decals on, not a ton of them. I wish I would have used the included stencils with white paint to help them stand out, but hindsight is 20/20 and I thought I could skip the extra work...

OCOawqW.png

Working on the X-4 Ruhrstahl missiles. Still need some touch-ups.

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Where do you get this kit? I see plenty of Luft 46 Model Kits in 1/72 and 1/48th Scale. Is the 1/18th scale no longer available?

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's a garage kit, if you want the maker's info PM me. He is also making a full kit with cockpit and landing gear.

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Uh
SXSuwZH.png

Missiles done, the duality of air to air missiles with plywood fins speaks volumes of Germany at the time.

y2mgnF3.png

Mounting to the pylons, I filled over the alignment holes like a mOron.

TWDLpuB.png

Added some pins for the wing attachment.

G7TqCqa.png

Dum dum puttied over more alignment holes, so I provised a jig.

gcgz0Dc.png

Not too shabby.

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Yeah, always loved those "what if"-plane designs when I first saw a book on the "secret weapons of the Luftwaffe" as a kid! The image in the first post screams "Take that, Captain America!" and before my mind´s eye I can see Hydra markings on that plane! :lol Seriously, I would have loved to see Hydra tech more to the tune of those designs than the overdesigned, over-21st century-y vehicles and weapons in the movie. Anybody else seeing the FJ-1 Fury in that plane? Or vice versa?!

Re: FW TA-183 Huckebein 1/18 Scale

Finished up the TA-183 model. The new canopy looks great, but I struggled with fitting the glass panes. Sorry my photographic abilities are very poor.
