Finally I got a "real" E-11/Sterling L2A3 MK4

more or less purely by chance ..... but i got it. :)

I was bored and searched Ebay randomly, just for fun, looking here and looking there - i never before looked for any E-11. Well, i found it by accident, made my bid, and won the auction.

It´s not completly accurate, but in a pretty good shape - some things i will fix, some not.

And here are the pics:

The t-tracks are made from alu - sure, not accurate - but HELL: I love the way it looks and feels, much better than grabbing some plastic. Maybe wrong, but this detail will definatly NOT be replaced by more accurate ones. :love

Not welded in place, still able to be retracted:

We all know how it unfolds, but nonetheless some pics:

The shortened magazine, still funktional for loading a few rounds

Put in it´s place:

The cylinders/their mount is not perfect, but i think i will not take any risk to damage anything with breaking them off - maybe a slight overwork will be done.

The fake scope, not the badest job was done on it:

The Hengstler is a resin cast, too. But i can live with it for some time, until i will find a real one:

For sure i would have loved to make my own E-11 from a Sterling, but it´s to hard to find any real one here in Germany these days to let this go, and it´s already my prefered version. All in all im pretty satisfied with it. :)

Thanks Guys. :)

I got it for 560€. The second bidder was the typical 1 step lower, and 3rd and 4th stopped around 400€ (ending time was 19.00 in the evening, not the best time for ending a auction, thank god). I wasn´t sure what them go for at these days, i remember them going for 300-350 some years ago - but i wanted it, so i had to go up. :confused

If i paid to much - just don´t tell me. :lol

I still try to find out what´s the difference between "early specs" and "late specs" - maybe someone can help me out?

So, this is still functional? Is that allowed in Germany? If so I may be moving!:lol

Beautiful Sterling, you have every right to be proud of your purchase.

No, it can´t fire any rounds anymore.

The cocking handle can still be pulled and released, and the spring pushes the bolt forward, but no round can feed in the chamber as the rear/inner/not visible side of the bolt is milled away in a 45° angle. And the chamber is completly filled/welded. The barrel itself is welded in the receivertube - the only way to get it out would be to cut the tube apart and to destroy the gun.

And the trigger mechanism is disabled, the trigger can be pulled, but without any function. It no longer interacts with the bolt. Even the selector is welded in it´s place. Left is only a good looking tube with a movable metalblock and a spring inside.

We are in Germany - it would be easier to build a new one from scratch than to reanimate this one. :lol

Thanks. :)

wow I've been all over ebay. Can't believe I missed it. Had I seen it we would have been battling over it LOL. Congrats nice piece.

That looks great. As much as I like my MR, there is just something about one made from a "real" Sterling that gives it that extra touch of realism.

Great score.

Hi Andre,

thanks - i´m sorry. I promise that i will not bid on the next one. ;)

Would you like to know where my painlevel was? Make your guess: Was it that ridicouluos high that you can feel better now? Or was it that low that you could have won with only a handfull € more? :lol

Wird schon klappen. :)
