FINALLY! Frank Thomast boots of my own!

Ok, first of all, sorry I don't post more. I get distracted easily. I am SL-3769 in the 501st, deathstarblinbling on the midsouth garrison and RL forums, and Hero most everywhere else. I think this is my first post here, though I've been lurking for years.

Second, I just wanted to share my excitement in finally getting some Frank Thomas Titan Gore 101 boots (exact rare model Darth Maul wore for those living under a rock). It only took me watching eBay for 4 years and getting outbid on the only other 2 pairs I saw before I got these. I really think they are too small for me to wear, being a UK9, but still I'm happy to have them. Now if I can only stop blinking long enough to get those red contacts in my eyes....

Dude, I know the feeling. I looked for eight years, and got outbid on plenty before convincing a seller to end his auction early last year. Mine are also slightly small, I'm still looking for a larger pair.

I've only ever seen 2 other pairs for sale.

The first was during AdCon around 3 years ago. The guy selling them obviously had no idea what they were. They even came with a matching pair of motorcycle gloves. Near the end, I got into a bidding war with some other guy. The prices got so high I knew that this guy had to be a costumer. This was back when eBay would tell you the screen name of the winning bidder. Putting the screen name and the ZIP code together, I figured out that I was bidding against DarkSiderSteve from Dune Sea garrison, they guy whose research taught me what model of boots to look for! I lost.

The second pair of boots for sale was only a week later. This guy knew exactly what his boots were and posted photographic evidence from the movie and the serial numbers on the box. Those boots sold for over $700.

Wow. I feel lucky for getting mine for $200. I saw one more auction last year and they went for $450.

Where did you pick up yours?

I got mine on eBay for $227 (a huge steal). They haven't even arrived yet, but I just couldn't wait. You got an even better deal, good work!

Right now, I'm wearing a different model of Frank Thomas boots that are pretty close (of course still one size too small).

When my Titan Gores arrive, I'll probably post up here to see if anyone has a larger size to trade. From what I understand, UK9 is the size that Ray Park wore, so I should get plenty of interest from model makers.

Well, I don't have them in the mail yet, but here are the pics from the eBay listing.

Were these in a movie or something??

:p

The great thing was that somebody tried to warn the guy selling them on eBay. Someone actually said "I would seriously consider putting a reserve on these if I was you mate. These are the boots worn by Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1. I have seen 5 pairs of these sold on ebay in the past year and the lowest price they went for was still over £200. These are super-rare and haven't been made since 1998. Make sure you don't get fleeced on these - they are worth quite a bit."

Here is what the guy replied back with:
"I will still let it run without reserve though. I am also selling matching suit and gloves - but I don't think they were ever worn by Darth Maul!"

Well, we can't say the guy wasn't warned. Still over $200 for boots he thought were worthless isn't bad.

Welcome to the club of FT Gore 101 owners. We are a a scarce few.Iscored my of Ebay about 5 years ago for around $100.00.Shipping across the pond cost a few bucks. There was a set on the legion boards a few months back that went for cheap and sat on the boards a day or so.

Thanks Eopie Herder! Due to the magic of trading, I now have Titan Gore's which fit, an he has the screen worn size for his display. I wore the boots around doing a little dance in my house yesterday. When my wife got home, she made me take them off and put them in a display case.
