Fight Club = Old School - Really? Post your thoughts...

I was reading this article and this surprised me. Seems like it might be true. (Don't think this has already been posted. I searched.)

According to Old School writer/director Todd Phillips...it's a comedic retelling of Fight Club. He mentions it in the DVD commentary.

So I wanna know your thoughts and any more parallels you can draw between the two. (Check the link to see some of the most obvious ones.)

I actually think of Fight Club every time I watch the movie, during the restaurant scene. He gets similar service due to his status within his club. Then there's the other office stiffs who want out, who are dying to get in on the fraternity... There's the whole idea of men behaving in a juvenile way to reclaim their masculinity. There are the humiliating/demeaning "trials" to join the club. Also, there's wrestling in a basement. I bet you could find more similarities if you tried; these came to me without much thought at all! They're obviously different stories, but I can see the parallels.

This is my favorite sign that he was writing it from Fight Club. :lol
