Fibreglass Han Solo in Carbonite

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

Neil, I have the opal white perspex for the hero panel, but how did you make the yellow squares decal, or where did you get it from?

Thanks,

Keith.

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

It looks more like off white. Maybe white that has yellowed very slightly over the years.

Thanks for the tip, Neil. I'm going to order the white tape.
Hi Keith,
I used yellow letraline. Letraset - 1/16' (1.6mm)
BTW...the grills will ship on Wednewsday for those that have paid.
Thanks
Neil

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

Hi Neil,

Do you have any photos of your panels showing the inside of them?

I got my panels out today to do some work on them, but i found they had all warped out of shape. I got them back into shape again with a hairdryer, but i'm going to put a layer of fiberglass on the inside so i know they won't ever warp again.
I need to make sure i don't put fiberglass where it might get in the way of something thats going to be fitted on the inside.

Also, how are you holding your panels onto the block? I was thinking of mounting some threaded rods into them rather than just using the two screws through the tabs.

BTW, i received the grill and it looks great!

Keith.

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

Hi Keith,
I've done 2 sets so far and have had 6 panels that were warped.
I haven't actually done a set for myself yet so I've not mounted them yet. Your solution sounds good to me...at least for the 'front' that has no screw holes. I don't have any pics of the insides either.

Why not fit all the aluminium in the panels first and then fibreglass the insides?

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

Thanks Neil.
I want to put them together so i can remove the aluminium sheets really. I always like to have the option to take things apart in case i need to do a repair or repaint.

I think everything will be ok if i avoid fiberglassing the inside of the front/face section and just fiberglass around the sides and top.

Thanks,

Keith.

I was going to put it in with the HIC, but I can send it tomorrow if you like.

Re: WIP: Han Solo in Carbonite - NEW & IMPROVED

Yes please if you wouldn't mind. Allows me to get some more work to my hero panel in preparation :)

I got all my panels painted at the weekend. I went with the Daewoo stone silver that you suggested for the non-hero panels, and plain old aluminium for the hero. Looks like a good match to me.

I was going to put it in with the HIC, but I can send it tomorrow if you like.

Neil, that looks to be the best one so far.

What paints and colours did you use on this one?

Keith.

Hi, this looks absolutely amazing but you have heard that many times already. I saw that many prob builders are using this Han Solo Body resin cast which was also used by you. Can you tell me where I can get such these parts? Thank you!
