Hi Everyone,

Started to make my first Farnsworth and I'm going for a clear faceplate and inner works. Not to much in there at the moment, but its getting there.

Can i ask if anyone can help me. How do i make it all look old..IE Weathered.

Hope you like and thanks..

You could use some dark ink washes or there are a range of Tamiya pastels that are great for weathering.

That's cool!

You could use steel wool to give it fine scratches all over. That will make the faceplate more opaque too. After that, some dark washes to bring out the details.

Nice one!

One thing is to use cloth-covered wire and other components that you'd find in older electronics. Go buy an ancient record player at a thrift store, and gut it. Older the better. If it's got tubes in it, that's going to be a good sign of old. Use the wire, resistors, coils, etc. out of it, plus whatever else. If there's an old circuit board, maybe you can cut it out to get a base circuit board.

The post I linked to above has some great pictures of an "old" looking one. Really great example of what you'd like to have it look like. I think that one's based on the blueprints?

Again, Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I'm gonna get so Pastels and try and source some more vintage components.
