Be warned this auction is showing our only prototype armor.

@costume replica suit Mark III Iron Man movie prop - eBay (item 290483196760 end time Oct-10-10 04:35:30 PDT)

For your information there is only one of existance of this version.. Because this was the prototype we made back in 2007 and finished just before the movie cinematic release in 2008. The seller is using our photos to sell ... SOMETHING... I dont know what but not the armor in the photo.

I dont know but it is a false representation and i will catogorize it as a possible scam.

Also looking at the auction it looks like the seller cant be reached trough ebay only direct trough a email. This can also be sign of a account HIJACK to missuse anothers person account to sell an item they dont have for a lower price than normal to obtain money.

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

interesting.

does look fishy to me, have you tried emailing him yet?

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

TMP id contact eBay and try get it pulled. Stolen pictures, using private email to bypass ebay system. Also the text with the private email is actually an image. Could be a hijack, either way I think its got to go.

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

His 100% fed back is from purchasing video games. No costume history. I sent him a message asking for actual pictures of the armor that he is selling. Do you think he will post them?

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

If he had a TMP gen1 or Gen2 i am sure he would post photos of it. But i doubth based on how it looks that he will post photos of a TMP early gen suit.

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

The listing got removed. :)

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

This person is still active and apperently this is a scam.
The person have copied ebay and other documents looking like the real trying to impersonate the original senders to retrive payments and information from other people. He also copied safeharbour and paypal.

BE AWARE!! This was most likly a Account thieft.

The person is using catalincop@aol.com and roumers say its from Italy.
This is a proffesional scammer so WATCH OUT!

GOOD TIPS!
Never CLICK a link from an email regardless conected to password required websites like ebay or paypal. Always go in your own browser and conect trough it the normal way. This way you are not directed to a false website were you litterarly give away your account info the instant you start writing in the scammers falsly made link.

  1. Always go to the website by pressing the website manually
  2. Always ensure that secure websites have Https the S is for Secure.
  3. Never press link that you recived in your email.
  4. Always reply to links or dialogs trough the normal manually written website never a pressed link.
  5. Never give away password or resept password trough a link provided
  6. ALWAYS BE AWARE!

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

This guy seems to be very active. I got info of 6 or more auctions using our older photos.
Now it appears same person has done it again just recently on ebay. The auction was removed by the seller. And he got a hit.
But hopefully we managed to stop the deal by informing the potential buyer of this potentially scam.

This is a proffesional scammer stealing other peoples account.
I got info of a person who bought one of our suits from an auction that recently got pulled.
Apperently the seller pulled the auction and offerd the suit in pricerange 1500-2000 USD as i would say is a giveaway price, on other words to good to be true. All previouse auctions been in the pricerange.

When a scammer steals another peoples account then a fake auction is listed. Usually text description are in a JPG photo format and not text and the scammer is requesting in the auction to be contacted trough a seperate email. He puts the email adr.in a JPG photo to avoid the security system of ebay that detects email texts in their description fields.

Third the scammer uses existing photos without permission because the scammer does not have the item he is selling.

The instant the potential buyer contact the seller trough the email listed in the photo then the scammer works his magic. To execute the scam they must close the auction as soon as possible before its reported or pulled. If the scammer manage to pull it before then ebay can not interfear.

Also when people contact outside ebay trough an email then ebay has no chance to inform the potential buyers that its a potential threat of scam because there is no comunication records in the ebay listing because the comunications been by mail.

The scammer usually say that they close the listing in return of maybe a discount and imidiate payment. The scammer could have the money transferd to him or even in some cases they can provide a newly setup paypal account or even provide a stolen ebay account to make the matter worse.

Once the payment is sent. There i nothing the buyer can do. The money is gone, the buyer will never get a product. The buyer cant request the money back because he did not comply to ebay policy, the buyer cant get money back because all the money been deducted from paypal or the wiretransaction is completed and the person is gone, or the paypal account was stolen and the owner is not responsible for the loss of the scammer.

The buyer will not be protected by the paypal protection because all funds been withdrawn and the person has taken of with the money.

TIPS!

ALWAYS ASK FOR REAL PHOTOS OF THE ITEM.
AS FOR PHOTO OF THE ITEM WITH NAME AND TODAYS PAPER.
NEVER COMUNICATE WITH UNKOWN SELLERS OUTSIDE EBAY.
WHEN A DEAL SEEMS TO BE, TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT... NORMALLY IS.

There will always be scammers regardless of country of origin. But you can avoid beeing scammed if you take notice of all the warning signs and you can understand how the scammer works. If you take shortcuts and quick deals it might backfire on you. As loong as you bough the item by using ebay bid, or buy it now combined with comunicating trough ebay and paying trough the sellers account on ebay with paypal you should be safe in most cases.

Just wanted to let peple know before they give away thousands of dollars to a scammer.

Re: False advert - ebay ironman - possible scam or ebay account hijack!

Thanks a lot for the info,

This definitely makes me want to be more cautious of what I buy. There are some very helpful tips here that I had no idea that hackers would use. Especially with the jpg image of all the info on the said product.

Good stuff to know. Ill be watching closer from now on.
I for one appreciate it! ^^

BE AWARE OF THIS AUCTION!:
IRON MAN MAR III ARMOR COSTUME DISPLAY REPLICA - eBay (item 190493526384 end time Jan-24-11 15:09:16 PST)

I can NOT confirm this seller having one of our earlier suits.
In the light of the recents scams on ebay i advice caution.

The photos in the acution is of me wearing the suit and the armor parts laying on my floor back in 2008. The armor in the photo is of the prototype, but if you notice you can se how it is clean on the floor and in the other photos i have battledamage. So he is showing photos that is not his, and of two different armor.

This armor is unique and it is mine. It is not stolen so i can guarentee say the photos is not of the goods he is selling.

He might have a generation 1 suit or a gen2 suit but WHY DOES HE NOT SHOW PHOTOS OF HIS SUIT? BE AWARE!!... I smell scam... AGAIN
2nd time in 2 weeks.

Oddly enough, I was going to post on this. I'm new around here, got here from TBOTB forum.

I am interested in a good armor setup and this caught my eye. I contacted this guy and his story is that he doesnt know the creator and bought it off of ebay a few years back for like $4,000. Along with that, he says that he'll be out of town until monday (today) and would not be able to send additional pics. After a quick and easy tmp google image search, I found this exact image on this page

http://geekcrafts.com/ten-awesome-iron-man-crafts-projects/

after i found that, I emailed him again and told him that the pics were not his and if he wants people to believe that his auction is legit, he has to add real pics of the armor. As much as I would love a deal on perhaps a used tmp suit, its hard for me to believe that he would have acquired it without know anything about it for $4,000!! Ebay and paypal has protection on this auction but, Id love to see what actually arrives.

anyway, anyone have some armor for me?

I hate to se our old photos are beeing missued. I learned that all photos in future will have watermark.

well, someone won the auction......I wonder what they got for $3,100?

TMP...email sent.

I got no reply from him with my confrontation, and it appears so far ebay done nothing to interfear. I hope for the buyers sake he get a suit. But i know he wont get the suit in the photo because that was one of a kind.

Ebay and paypal has protection on this auction

It's a joke. They are very very unlikely to cover anything if the seller has moved the money. "We got you covered" should rather be "The seller got you covered, well if he's still got the money that is"...

Not sure how many % but even when Paypal holds the money you can still use most of the funds to purshase. I was upset about not able to withdraw my money (just recently sold first ebay item) but discovered that most of it could be used to buy stuff. So, moving the money... once you have the hijacked ebay account, it's like stealing candy from a baby.
