Fallout Raider Armor

So a few years ago a friend and myself decided to make a Fallout fanfilm. I had never made armor before but thought I would just figure it out. After making a few sets with EVA I started using PVC foam board. It's a little heavier but for the purposes of being in front of the camera it has to be sturdy. If something breaks then production stops while I have to fix it. The stuff outperformed my expectations and I've been making everything with it since. I got a pipboy from Skruffy and some 3d printed weapons from GhostMinion, made some others from different materials, finished the armor sets, built a set, and shot the first episode. Oh, and my girlfriend made a vault suit.
To promote the show we decided to go to Megacon in Orlando (where we live) and then to Dragoncon. I didn't know the cons would be so much fun and I'll probably go to every one that I can from now on. Here are some pics of the stuff I made for Dragoncon:

Skruffy sent me the jet.

GhostMinion modeled and printed the 10mm SMG from the first Fallout games and the ripper.

I have a few videos of the process on my YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHDOcyUcR6UaPgUXRExCWqw

Amazing work. Your costuming is spot on.

Very much enjoyed your first episode. I'll make sure to spread it around and show some of the other Fallout fans I know.

Thanks so much. I'm shooting the next one soon. In the meantime I'm probably going to shoot another shop video. If there's anything in particular you guys want to see just let me know.

Victor Voyeur photography (Nathan) here, y'all looked great. I'm glad you stuck around for photos after everyone else was dispersing, I didn't have energy to chase anyone else down.

I'm also a huge fan of PVC foam board (Sintra), almost my whole helmet was made from it. I'm working on a build thread, but stopped writing halfway through for that final Dragoncon push. Still have a lot of photos and will finish up the thread soon. If you haven't paired the PVC board with Apoxie Sculpt for detailing and patching seams, give that a try. Once the Apoxie is cured, it sands and takes paint very similarly to the PVC.

Any documentation on your paint jobs would be great, detailing and weathering and texturing are things that I still need to work on.

More of those beautiful guns! ;):devil

Didn't bring this one to DragonCon because I haven't made a holster for it yet. I think it might be a little complicated but I'll figure it out. I was really excited to get this kit from GhostMinion. The fact that it was modeled from a tiny little thumbnail image from 1997, I dunno I just really like that.

Only made 2 of these. Skruffy has the other one

Another from GhostMinion. I love this one but I'm gonna repaint it. I can do a better job. There's definitely a learning curve with sanding and assembling 3d prints.

I'll do a video about the paint process. Diving into preproduction for the next installment right now but I want to do another shop video anyway.
ApoxieSculpt is great. That's all I use. Safer than bondo and MEK as well. On one of the last chest armors I assembled I actually left a few blobs of ApoxieScult around the joints and kind of sculpted it to look like welds. After the last coat of paint and metallic highlights it actually looks pretty real.
Thanks, man. Your photos look great and I'm sure everyone who was there really appreciates it.

Trailer is live: https://youtu.be/7VU_NduF8Sk

The Eyebot parts were printed by Vrogy (Michael Vroegop), holotapes printed by GhostMinion. A lot of my other prints were made by GhostMinion but they don't show up in the trailer. The cage armor Larry Hastings (Klown5ive, Vulture Productions) is wearing was made by him. The female raider, Becca, is wearing her own gear as well. Pretty much everything else I made in the months coming up to our production dates. Let me know what you think!

oh man: I love it! Tbh, I wouldn't put it against you (as a Fallout fan myself) to have a little bit of liberty for adding details to the armour: most of these guys tend to slap anything they find into these armour so extra rebar or anything to single out any character would be awesome! (Look at how different Gage's armour is)

Excellent work! It looks awesome. Trailer link wasn't working (not sure if that is just at my end).
