IMG_2827.JPG710x528_18197420_10694535_1491262694.jpgI am trying, its just sitting there as a "dry run" to test lighting schemes, I am not an Artists I am more crafty than creative like most on here.
I am going to cover the "new" style dial, It will be a closeto pic but will work and has BlueTooth, Its a Bday gift for a player
Did you put a 3D printed face on an existing radio?

Now I need an artists, what color(s) to paint it?, I have suggestions on silver or even a chrome paint, I was thinking and off white or trying 2 colors a darker whitish/gray from the bottom and an off white sprayed from the top?
Any suggestions appreciated

I would paint it to look like brass and wood. For the bass, paint the base color a brass spray paint. Once dry, add Rubb N Buff. Use a rag to rub it into the piece and work it into all the nook and crannies, then wipe off excess. If you do a few layers and color variations, you can give a good aged brass effect. Search this forum for Rocketeer helmet projects and look at how they painted them to get a good idea. Just be careful to not go as dark as the Rocketeer helmets as your piece looks like it is a lighter brass color.

Looks fantastic. Nice job! :thumbsup

That is a really fantastic job there. It's got a beautiful home right under that Hitler painting. Now did you 3D print the entire body or did you just stick things onto an existing one?

I just put parts from members on an existing radio that is also a bluetooth speaker so it would be functional and useful.
Thanks for compliments

Hey guys, I am about to finish up my radio, and I was wondering.... do you think the faceplate is silver/ like a stainless steel sort of thing? And do you reckon that "brand new" it is meant to be glossy or a matt finish? Thanks :p

From looking at screenshots my best guess is probably aluminum. So I'd say matte aluminum. I'm not a radio expert, but my guess aluminum would be more likely to be used than stainless. Well in the real world anyway. BTW the one screenshot above is a retextured 4k mod so it almost has a brassy sheen to it, but that's not the regular game version.

The radio bezel is based on 1938 Vintage 5-S-319 which had brass bezel. It was brass looking in Fallout 3 but stuck on a different radio than the 5-S-319.

IMHO, the Fallout 4 radio face found in the SS bedroom, before the bombs fall, looks like its supposed to be white or cream bakelite like this:

I like the white Bakelite look also, but the kids shot me down so repainted silver, although in my pic the front doesn't look silver it is ,the texture of the
knobs made them shine more
