Fallout 4

Yesterday my copy of the Fallout 4 art book came and it is absolutely lovely! I paid 41€ and it is worth every cent of it! Perfect coffee table book! Go get it, if you are interested in conceptual drawings and such stuff! (Which is probably everybody on this board ;) )

I had the open garage setup when i first started, I may go back to it. The building system is so frustrating though at times. You should be able to even out an entire plot of land and automatically put down an entirely new foundation from scratch. I spend more time puttering around with my armors than i do anything else at the moment.

You can make a custom foundations. Go to wood structures, then floors, and use the shack foundation block. Uses wood and concrete. While it's called a shack foundation, you can make them stack against one another as much as you want, or have space for. You can raise and lower it on the ground some, this helps a little to level things out.

They do have prefab buildings.

They do. There are two prefab shacks you can make from wood, and I think one from metal. You just need to add doors.

I didn't care much for the settlement system so I never bothered with it but I did enjoy the crafting mechanic and created a small woodland villa on Spectacle Island to store my collectibles.

Me neither. I liked it for building my own house, and customizing how I store my stuff, but other than that I didn't care for it. Some of the stuff you build seems rather silly, too. What really confuses me is that I set up my home settlement with defenses, but never actually need them. Sure, a missile launcher turret is cool, but it just sits there and never does anything. There's never any attackers for it to shoot at. What's the point?

When I first started building up Sanctuary i really did have raiders rushing at the base so the turrets fired. What gets me is you have the defenses setup but then you get missions where the raiders are getting food from Sanctuary despite having a massive amount of weapons around it.

Yeah, on my current playthrough I didn't even join the minutemen. It's nice because you don't have all the annoying quests that follow. There are still a good bunch of settlements you can unlock even without joining the minutemen. So I build a little bit on each one when I need some XP to level up, but I don't have to go and save somebody from being kidnapped every five damn minutes. The attacks that have happened on my settlements were other ones like Coastal Cove, where a Deathclaw spawn is near. Basically, the settlements that are close to the action (yet they are always small settlements).

But Sanctuary has never been hit. Not in both playthroughs. I give every settler a bad ass gun, load them up with ammo, hell I even fashion them all with combat armor. Turrets all over the damn place. They outta name my Sanctuary "Turret City". Yet, never get to see any of it in action. :cry

Its always the same family that gets kidnapped too, I have a good mind to just let them keep them, then maybe I wont have to go save their ass every two minutes, besides the father/husband is usually just planting melons when I get back anyway and taking his sweat time standing up, so he cant have been that bothered.

I'm with you on the plants sticking through the floors. My 12 yo. nephew said "In Minecraft if you build a block on a tile with grass, it builds over the grass. Fallout has much better graphics, but they couldn't figure that out?" :lol

Yeah the Abernathy's keep getting kidnapped all the time.

That's right up there with people not recognizing your weapon/armor strength. They just didn't figure in the defenses of a settlement with how the Minutemen missions are handed out. It would have been more realistic definitely. My Abernathy farm has a metal wall completely around the entire build area, about four highly armed and armored guards, and turrets everywhere. There's only one spot to enter and it has two searchlights, six heavy laser turrets, and two guard posts. Yet those crafty, high as a kite raiders still infiltrate my defenses and kidnap people there! It's even more mystifying when Supermutants pull of the same trick and kidnap someone! At least they could have added something like "Help! Jane was out gathering supplies and on her way back to the settlement she was kidnapped!" That would make more sense than being kidnapped in a heavily fortified settlement.

Have you guys heard about this clown who's suing Bethesda because Fallout 4 is "too addictive"? :facepalm

Claims he lost his job, wife and health because he couldn't put the controller down. What a joke.

I've managed to keep all three and still get to level 86!

I think I might stop at 100, emphasis on might.

Built a lot of tall houses today, learned there is a maximum height, and if you go higher it drops you straight out of building mode.

Also learned the only thing you need to keep a massive house in the air is one ladder leading up to it.

Sad part it isn't even a brainless american suing them, it's some guy from Russia/Siberia.

Yeah I saw that. That's nuts. Although when most of my Steam wishlist went on sale last night, I was going back and forth over in my head of what I could afford, vs. what I needed to spend for my girlfriend's birthday next month. I figured that Homeworld Remastered wouldn't look as good as she did last night so she won. :lol

My gf/fiance (depends on what i feel like saying, you ask her she'd say wife) is happy with just me buying her lunch on hers.

I made a mistake of building a home/castle/fort in Sanctuary. I used the foundation to make a concrete wall and then built a two story structure on top of that. The only entrances are on the upper floors and I move the stairs when I leave. Today I move the stairs to get inside, drop off some stuff, and there is Sturges sleeping in my bed. I may see if I can kill him to teach the others a lesson.

No matter what I do some bum is sleeping in my bed in my private home in Sanctuary. I sent Sturges to another town to get rid of him as he is so useless. My new playthru i'm just shooting everyone and going full evil lol

Put his head on a pike outside. "See what he made me do?" :lol

That's one thing I hope they fix or someone mods. I want people out of my house! I don't even want those bums working on my power armor! Don't even get me started on Piper sleeping in some other bed outside the house I made just for her!

:lol

Thankfully I haven't found anyone sleeping in the bed in my house. But it does annoy me that anyone goes in my house at all.
