Fallout 3 PipBoy 4000 Prototype.

So I really wanted to make a pipboy, but then the fallout clock came out and now there are videos of people modding them to fit Ipod touches. So still wanting to make one I had 3 options... A) Still try to make a copy of the pipboy 3000, but i knew it would not be exact. B) Buy the clock and silicone matrix mold it, but that is no fun. or C) Make my own updated version of the pipboy.

So from the start I wanted it to fit a iPod touch/iPhone. then the idea if it was a touch screen then whats with all the other buttons. so take off the outside buttons and switches and make it more sleek, also you art could use some more protection so i extended a arm shield.

Heres what it looked like glued and clayed up in progress

the 3 pieces (top, bottom, and shield)

very rough clay up, it will be held together with a hinge and inner locks

After in was clayed up I did a simple dump mold with silicone and taped fiberglass into it. At the moment it is a prototype...

I would like to sculpt a clean inside and body shop it so that I can matrix mold it and just rotocast cast the pieces in 2 part plastic... if anyone was interested in a copy.

I like the fact that you have to raise up that cover to get to your touch. Makes it so much safer. I really like the design overall, clean, but with the Fallout aesthetic. Though the second to last picture made me think of a happy face . I really like it and I hope we see more of it.

Kotoki made me think - what if it were possible for the PipBoy 3000 to get shot in Fallout 3? That'd make the game a lot more difficult...no weapons, no armor, no map...lol.

I really like this. I'm kinda tempted to make one myself.

This is an amazing piece! It could be like a prototype the BoS Outcasts from Operation Anchorage make before the Lone Wanderer shows up. Like they'd given up on finding someone who'd help them, and stealing one, so someone said "Hey, lets try and make our own!"

Like I mentioned in the post that this is just a prototype. I want the final product to be able to sit next to the Pipboy clock and fell as if they are both from the same area and time. Which mean resculpting a clean inside for the iPod to fit securely into the piece. Bondo and sand cleaner surfaces and edges. Silicone matrix mold the pieces then cast them in fiberglass resin. And finish the piece off with a more realistic paint job instead of the rushed wash I did for the prototype.

If I had 3 people interested in a copy I would go all the way to make a cleaner matrix mold version.

So if you are anyone you know really wanted one just let me know.
