Eudorus, singularly fleet of foot and in fight valiant. - The Iliad
So anyone that has been following me the last few months will know that I have been after a Myrmidon costume for years. There were quite a few made for Troy but for whatever reason, they are incredibly rare and hard to come by. The guys at Prop Store not only found me a set, but the armor from my set actually belonged to Achilles' captain; Eudorus (Vincent Regan, who also played the captain in 300). That is pretty special in and of itself because outside of Achilles, Eudorus is the only other Myrmidon with unique armor. The problem with the suit is that Eudorus also has a very specific helmet, but it didn't come with the armor. Because Eudorus is a unique character but isn't a key character in the movie, there were unlikely to be many of his helmets made (unlike a main character like Achilles) so the chances of ever getting one would be slim to none.
Clearly I don't need to go much further because you have already seen the photo attached to this post... Beyond all odds, Stephen was able to track this down for me and I am one HUGE step closer to putting Eudros' costume back together again! From what we have seen, it appears that Eudorus wears two helmets in the movie; a metal hero helmet, and a fiberglass "fighting" helmet. This is the fighting helmet. What is interesting to note is that you BRIEFLY see the helmet again in Clash of the Titans, sitting in the armorer's room with other key pieces from Troy!
Huge thanks to Stephen, Brandon, Tim and Peter for helping make this happen! When it comes to rare and hard to find pieces, they are the only name you need to know and their service is second to none!
Can't wait to get this piece in hand so I can take more photos!
