One of my side projects, in addition to trying to finish Fett v3.0, is making an ESB Han Solo costume for Celebration 4. I just put the finishing touches on my blaster.
I've had the Denix Mauser for a few years, a birthday gift from my best friend. But for various reasons, I delayed in getting the Blast-Tech conversion kit until just a few weeks ago. I found several tutorials (Boba Debt.) and reference images on the Internet, and asked a few questions here, and finally, here she is:
I apologize for the dark pics, and will try to get some better outside shots up this weekend.
The blaster is by no means screen-accurate, as this was not my intention. I just wanted a close replica for trooping and such. I decided not to add any greeblies in the middle section of the left side, and there are a few other discrepancies as well (rangefinder thingie on the wrong side). Using a hole-punch, I snapped out a small plastic disc (off a plastic report cover), and glued it into the front of the scope, so as to look more like glass.
I also decided NOT to weather it, as I want it to weather naturally instead. That's why I went with several coats of paint, and a flat black instead of a satin finish. As the blaster wears, the other paint layers will show through.
