So I've had this crappy C3PO head for a while and wasn't sure what to do with it...

    PNVC4a4.jpg

It's never going to be a perfect, screen accurate head. So it occurred to me that it would made a great ESB decapitated head display. Should be a fun, cheap build...

So we'll cut off the access neck and use the rest as a collar

    Y6tf8Y3.jpg

Bit of tidy up with the dremel

    wg1f2I7.jpg

    First primer coat down

    vLTMI6X.jpg

    Lots of room in here

    QTbt2K1.jpg

It's missing some details so we'll make those out of spare bits

    Of26pGP.jpg

    Looks the part

    5KKWl3B.jpg

We'll use this plastic for the neck plate

    nb5iD6l.jpg

    REl6uKI.jpg

    KeSoXiL.jpg

The display base is just a paper towel rack

    lvdJCvs.jpg

    9YRbS3R.jpg

Onto the fun part, the neck deets...

    sJn0AO0.jpg

    EX3ijxf.jpg

    mWta2dW.jpg

    Taking shape

    VGglUKM.jpg

    wfyxcP9.jpg

And that's where we are up to. Head needs a wet-sand and paint. But first I need to make the eyes...

Dig the 'fake' electronics/wires from the bottom! adds a nice 'touch' of accepted realism to it!

Thanks! Ridiculously inaccurate of course, but the goal here is just a cool display. (y)

The best C3-PO scenes in the OT were when he was a silent, deactivated head, and a bag of parts.

    :)

Ha ha yeah true! I really want to build the C3PO in the net, like what Adam S did for his Chewy suit. (y)

Yeah, there's a lot more that could be done with electronics - lights and sounds. Even have the boot-up sequence when Chewy gets his head going. I bet @x197 could help with that. (y)

Looks great! Now just pick up one of those 'cheap' 1:1 Chewys for the display and you're done :lol::lol:

I most definitely could help with putting something together for electronics!

    lights/eye blinking... triggered audio clips..etc..

could even have it be triggered by motion or just a button press..etc.

Paint. This is a low-budget build. I am very limited to what gold paint I have available with only 3 or so viable options. But I did find a can of VHT high-temp gold that I really like. It's that deep, almost vintage looking gold that should work well for this project.

    PResumed so... I would too.

One advantage is there is more weathering on his head at this stage - the burnt look, etcetera...

Yeah, that is definitely my saving grace! He'll end up heavily weathered. (y)

Sorry team, was a week in bed rather unwell. All good now though so back at it!

For the eyes I wanted that cool textured glass look, so found this for $2...

I decided to go with yellow eyes after seeing a couple pics I liked...

The eye grills were a mission coz I was making them from scratch. Used cardboard as the template...

    QLHnGBN.jpg

    Then replaced it with styrene...

    bWeFz1A.jpg

I went on and made the grills but forgot to take a pic.

On to painting the head. Quite like this dark gold...

What do you guys think of that color?
