ESB C3PO Decapitated Head Display - Finished.

So I've had this crappy C3PO head for a while and wasn't sure what to do with it...

It's never going to be a perfect, screen accurate head. So it occurred to me that it would made a great ESB decapitated head display. Should be a fun, cheap build...

So we'll cut off the access neck and use the rest as a collar

Bit of tidy up with the dremel

First primer coat down

Lots of room in here

It's missing some details so we'll make those out of spare bits

Looks the part

We'll use this plastic for the neck plate

The display base is just a paper towel rack

Onto the fun part, the neck deets...

Taking shape

And that's where we are up to. Head needs a wet-sand and paint. But first I need to make the eyes...

Dig the 'fake' electronics/wires from the bottom! adds a nice 'touch' of accepted realism to it!

Thanks! Ridiculously inaccurate of course, but the goal here is just a cool display.

Yeah, there's a lot more that could be done with electronics - lights and sounds. Even have the boot-up sequence when Chewy gets his head going. I bet @x197 could help with that.

Looks great! Now just pick up one of those 'cheap' 1:1 Chewys for the display and you're done

I most definitely could help with putting something together for electronics!

lights/eye blinking... triggered audio clips..etc..

could even have it be triggered by motion or just a button press..etc.

Paint. This is a low-budget build. I am very limited to what gold paint I have available with only 3 or so viable options. But I did find a can of VHT high-temp gold that I really like. It's that deep, almost vintage looking gold that should work well for this project.

Presumed so... I would too.

One advantage is there is more weathering on his head at this stage - the burnt look, etcetera...

Yeah, that is definitely my saving grace! He'll end up heavily weathered.
