My first thought was maybe that weird lightsaber Hasbro gave to Saesee Tiin has its origins in something that was made for TPM?

I would discard that as a reflection or motion blur/compression artefact.

I think this is from the early part of the duel. It was off to the left and not the main focus of the screenshot. Maybe when they pause and stare at eachother?

Almost certainly the case, there are a lot of similarities between the "thin neck" and his actual saber in the full screenshot, aside from the part that actually looks thin.

I wonder if Liam was shot separately? Because part of the lightsaber does vanish for a second, almost looks like poor compositing, maybe?
