It's killing me that they're being so slow with updates this time. They said there'd be one in February but there wasn't :(
First post, hi all. I think there was an update posted on the Tomy site but contained little of interest. March could be the month where we get to see some first diecast samples.

Meanwhile, I’ve been making a space for it… :)

Well look on the bright side. It's been Out of sight and mind for 5 months. About 7 months to go. It will fly by just like life. Be patient smell the roses....

I would not be surprised if they were having a lot of trouble mass producing it with that aztecing from the prototype, especially on such a small scale. Then again I don't know what their capabilities are - they may have some cool tech that can do it properly.

Im wondering if it’s the mold itself that might be presenting issues; possibly screw cap placements that were unfeasible. Product development and execution overseas is tremendously difficult. I’m just hoping that tariffs won’t compromise the final product’s features/quality as Tomy has to make their margin work of course

Chris Huisman said in the Tested interview that they may use tampo printing for the Aztec pattern.

You'd think that this is much more likely to be the source of any delays rather than the printing, especially since it was the moulding and caps that seem to have caused the delays last time. Tampo printing is a pretty mature process that has been used for all sorts of complex shapes for years, so it shouldn't pose them any major problems. But the size and weight of a die cast model like this could well be causing them difficulties.

I won't be surprised if we're asked to pay more if tarrifs do impact on the product, although it would be annoying.

I’m not sure that would be legal, since the price was advertised and we already paid in full. A google search came up with this:

Price increases after purchase:
If a tariff is imposed or raised after a product is purchased, the price increase may affect future purchases, but not the ones that were already finalized.

But I’ve posted wrong information about tariffs before so who knows.

Probably unlikely that it affects our bottom line, however I hope it doesn’t impact the iterative design improvement process with the factory samples. It’s got to cost a lot of $$ to send the factory samples from China to the US; it would probably multiple iterations to get it right. Hopefully it won’t impact the final product much.

Also Defiant I think is a given.

We are gonna be buying and complaining about the lack of updates forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good time to be a Trek Model lover who does not have the skills to build the models (y)

I think Reliant, D, E, and Voyager are a given.

Maybe an A.

Bird of Prey, very likely.
I SO hope they do those ships. Especially a reliant or a ktinga eventually. I’m guessing that they’ll do the A judging by Chris’ response to the Danoby interview; but we’ll see on the certificate they’ll destroy the molds or not :)

So, it's been announced that TOMY UK will be offering the refit model to UK customers for £699. I've emailed TOMY about this and they have said they can cancel my US order so I can place the order for the UK release instead. Just waiting to hear from them regarding the timescale of the UK release and whether it will coincide with the US release, or not arrive until months afterwards. Hmmm. Not sure what to do at the moment - keep my US order or cancel and wait for the UK orders to open.

Hi, Could you share where it was announced and did you contact them through the standard TOMY UK website as I will likely do the same as I was expecting to pay that much on shipping and import duty VAT charges on the US import so if they are going to release it the UK option would be a no-brainer for me. I would keep my US order open for now though until a UK order date was confirmed.
