Anyone have an Enterprise communicator? I want to scratch build a static one as a stand in until I can get my hands on a kit or something and am looking for help with dimensions. Even rough dimensions that can help me figure this thing out would be very much appreciated.

Thought I had my hands on a kit who's only problem was lack of instructions, but that fell through.

I did, thank you and sorry it's been crazy lately. Between illness and helping a buddy do drywall... I know excuses excuses. Will reply tonight.

Would it be easier to use the toy? I've compared one to the Roddenberry one and it holds it's own with a repaint.

Take your time, i was just curious if you got it, or if it was lost in a spamfilter.

thegreatgalling - The Toy? Who makes sells it? I didn't they were made anymore. Ebay only now?

Lichtbringer - not lost. :)

Just picked one up - An art asylum communicator. Now to get a phase pistol.

The Art Asylum Comm is almost dead on to the original prop -
I've had both at the same time to compare...

As the show went on, the props department actually started using the toy Phase Pistols and Communcators from Art Asylum. Cheaper than making new props, and they were pretty much exact.

The main difference in the Enterprise comm from the original to the AA is that the AA is much thicker.

Yep. And Art Asylum made the phase pistol too Sulla. While the actual one was a tad bigger - it's again the same story- the prop dept. used those as well. Personally, I prefer the toy to a built kit because the toy even has a removable "power pack" which is pretty cool. I did a repaint and I'm very happy with it.

I love the look of the toy pistol. I am on the hunt. Thanks everyone for your input it has been helpful.

The Hero model had a removable power pack as-well.

Here's an Art Asylum phase pistol I painted with enamel paint a few years ago. I think it still looks good.
