Enterprise C First Contact Trophy Case model help

Hello all,
Okay back in the 90s before First Contact came out I found this model in my local shop in Sacramento.

The story I was told is the producers needed a model of the C to go in the display case and nobody had ever made one so they asked this guy to make it. I was just happy to find a C model cause that's all I was missing and at that point it did not seem likely it would ever be made.

Sure enough First Contact came out and there it was.

I'm probably going to sell it but I was wondering two things.

Can anyone verify the story?

And any idea what it would be worth?

Thanks

Well, I know this is not the model that appeared in the observation lounge of the Enterprise D as that one is based on Andy Probert's design and not what Greg Jein built for the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise." I can't say for sure if this is a different model produced for First Contact, but I know there are folks here who can answer that question for certain. Apparently the model that appeared in First Contact was auctioned off. What you have here appears to me anyway, to be a resin copy of the model put out by AMT/ERTL; but I can't say for certain. :confused

Actually I just found the article on the guy who made the C for First Contact. So, yeah not a true story.

Mine however was made before the first release of the Enterprise C by AMT/Ertl. One site has it listed as being released in 1990 but that is not correct. The Enterprise C came out after First Contact as he stated he had to kit bash/scratch one for First Contact because they had not made it and by the next film it had come out so he used it.

This one I have is a bit different than the one used for First Contact based on the pic I just found so it's clearly not it. Who knows.

Very Strange.

Oh Well, I bought it cause I needed a C. Actually I bought two, built one that got trashed in a move.

Thanks

I wonder who trt models is anyway.

It was a Thomas Models creation (I believe before Thomas started Thomas Models). I saw a buildup of this kit done by Marc King at Wonderfest in 1998 (it was my first Wonderfest) and he did an overly masochistic job on the thing of hollowing out the thick internal resin to add a lighting kit (I don't recall if he did the engine lights, but it had window lights in the primary and secondary hulls). The result was pretty effective though and as I recall, the model took a silver that year.

As far as resin kits go, this was actually a pretty good one IMHO.
