Does anyone know if there are anymore reference/behind the scenes photo's of the Scavenger's Ship from the film Enemy Mine available ? According to Cinefex (where the picture came from) the ship was built by the German crew !

Many thanks !

Awesome shot!

And can that guy look any more 80s European? PLEASE tell me he was listening to Kraftwerk in his saucy jumpsuit!!

Want to hear a sad story?

There were a very few "Enemy Mine" SS ships in an exhibition shed in the Bavaria Movie Park in Germany, right across where I studied production design. They remodeled that shed into a stage for a daily talk show, and believe it or not, the models disappeared from the face of the earth.

Sad, really, but IIRC the huge ship wasnt there, but the small fighters and a hangar model of some kind.

Speaking of SS models from this show, does anyone have good shots of the Drac fighter and BTA fighter? The only pics I've ever seen were taken at an exhibition in Australia (I think) by a fellow named Robert Kerton. I meant to ask if I could get high-res copies of what he posted, but I lost touch with him. . .

I completely forgot about the movie untill seeing this post. What a great film. Suprised it isnt as like as much as it should be. Hell it even made me cry towards the end. :cry

Hey, i know that guy on the picture. I'll ask him next time about the ship, but don't get your hopes up. He's rebuilding his house, so everythings in storage.

Cheers,

Wasili

I keep hearing Thomas Dolby for some reason. :)

Some of the BTA ships and other bits and pieces were on display at the Fox Studios attraction in Sydney for, I think, years. They closed the attraction about the same time I heard about this, having been a longtime nutter for those ships (and the original pre-Petersen BTA fighter too). ARRGH! I would have been straight on the next plane if I'd known, with cam and spare memory cards. :(

Those models disappeared too. Dammit. :( :(

I was never very keen on the original BTA craft designed for the Richard Locraine directed version, it looked more like a shuttle than a fighter craft !!

Going back to the Scavenger Craft, I think some of the parts on there are from the Revell Oil Riig model, which I used to have back in the 80's.

Hey Martyn, do you know Robert Kerton? I know he got some pics because he posted a few of them quite a while back. Maybe he can help? :D

This is what happens when you Google yourself - you find people have been talking about you behind your back. Here are the photos I took at the Fox Studio's exhibit of the models from Enemy Mine. I'll have to do some digging to find the original scans of the negatives.163.23.jpg163.24.jpg164.00.jpg164.01.jpg164.02.jpg164.03.jpg164.04.jpg164.05.jpg164.06.jpg164.07.jpg

Wow. Fantastic. Here's hoping you can find the original scans. Thanks for posting.

Great pics, gumboot! Do let us know if you find the negs.

There are a few other references for Enemy Mine in various dusty corners of the internet, though I've never seen any other pictures of the scavenger ship. The one at the start of this thread appears in Cinefex, if I'm not mistaken, and is probably the best you'll find for a miniature with about two seconds of screen time!

By the by, Scott Spicer of SRS Prototyping produces kits of the Drac and BTA fighters. The Drac is one of the most stunning pieces of craftsmanship I've ever seen.
