This is a mask/prosthetic that I made for our new Emperor in the Emerald Garrison.
I started out with a regular head and shoulders lifecast.
After making a lightweight fibreglass copy of this...
I sculpted it in a medium grade plastiline. The look is based on a ROTJ version with some of the ROTS attitude thrown in.
The real trick was making the appliance durable enough to last 8 hour troops and multiple applications. I ended up with a very soft elastic cold foam.
Again I had a play with the paint job and tried out the more purple ROTS version and the much paler ROTJ one.
We ended up going for the paler version on the day which went on like a dream.
The addition of an amazing set of Clothears robes and some beautiful 9mmFX lenses finished the look.
Sam our new Emperor really has to take the credit for bring this make-up to life. He spent months learning the lines and practising every tiny little nuance of accent and movement. And when he did 'the laugh' or should I say cackle, it sent shivers down your spine. You would be forgiven for thinking that it was the man himself under that hood!!
I had the pleasure of Vadering beside him the whole weekend, and watching him scare the bejeezus out of the kiddies and parents alike!
