Elysium Props

A very fine pattern or texture of horizontal lines, resulting from the master being CNC milled or 3D printed and then only partially cleaned up.

It's visible on the stunt / background pieces and on the photo of the replica. It does not appear to be visible on the heros.

im not too concerned about the print lines. Its one of those things that is authentic to the screenused prop. Like a C-Scar, just less controversial because its made from the authority. :lol

Its also $100 less than the D9 Offerings.

IIRC, their District 9 guns had faint lines, too.

It does strike me as odd that they'd use the molds / masters for one of the stunt guns, and not one of the heros.

Maybe if enough people complain, they'll rework the molds.

I don't know what kind of expletives we're allowed to use in this forum, but when I say I'm astonished Neill Blomkamp used miniatures, and used them extensively, it really doesn't express how I feel. He deserves all manner of credit for accepting there are certain things CGI just can't replicate yet.

Remember, Blomkamp got his start as a VFX supervisor working on TV commercials. He knows his stuff.

Definitely. I caught up with his work when he was announced as the director of the Halo movie (before it fell through), and became a fan right away.

I'll also note that the bottom of the fore grip is missing it's decal, which the stunt at SDCC had.

Maybe that's what this is - just photos of a stunt gun, and not a prototype of the finished product. A placeholder, if you will.

They did indeed and the guys at Weta were very embarrassed by them, but we BEGGED them to leave them since the screen used District 9 guns almost had the print lines and we didn't want them to change anything at all.

Made these yesterday, my first time using Supersculpey (Casings are real). It's great! I'm going to make another set, but really really take my time with them.

I was very happy with the D9 guns so this was a no-brainer. I guess I shouldn't be surprised the edition size increased quite a bit over the D9 guns.

This is my first time dealing with waiting for new pics, and the bluray so I can move forward on a project. Yeesh!

I was looking at the props up on eBay and saw these shots of the armour worn by the Drake character. Here are a couple of shots of that:
Drake00.JPGDrake01.jpg

These are my observations:
The screwgate is a DMM belay master 2.
The knife on his shoulder is a Cold Steel Counter-Tac (with some tape wrapped round the handle).
The knife in the small of his back is a Blackhawk UK Special Forces.

As for Kruger, I have a couple of spots on his gear:
The carabiners on his armour are DMM Shadows straight gate (and full of dirt). The ones on his exosuit looked more like they were DMM Aeros.
The knife on the front of his armour is a Cold Steel Recon Tanto, they covered up the rubber grip with a two piece plasticy looking grip and it doesn't look like it fits properly in its sheath any more.
And I really want to build his sword :D
