>>> Elstree Props "Design Our New Logo" Contest <<<

I decided on the criteria so as to keep it as open for everyone as possible. As not everyone is a capable as each other on computers I did not want someone who wanted to enter not too because they did not know how to provide a vector or size their image correctly.

I understand that, but does it make sense to have an awesome logo image, that is useless (at least in some cases), because it has a low resolution?

:lol You submit a JPEG file and if you are chosen based on it you can then send him the higher resolution file... Pretty simple really. Wish I had thought of it?....WAIT I DID!:lol

Simple for me and you. But what if the winner just has a low resolution image, because he thought, it would fit in any case?

submitted my entry! hopefully with my expertise of designing plaques i can win myself some mystery prize!

If the winner doesn't have the capability to do a high resolution image that fits your ideas and standards of what one should be. Then all that has to happen is after the (Design) is chosen. Simply have someone recreate it at a higher resolution that has the capability to do so. Again very simple man.:lol

That was sort of the conclusion I had come to. The idea of the comp was to be all inclusive. I could have asked for a certain file type, res etc and got some great entrys. I decided I just wanted anyone with an idea to be able to have a crack at it regardless to technical skill, competency etc!

@leach145

I send in an entry 1 day ago, i didn't get a response so not sure whether it went through or not.

Will all entrants get an email/message saying that their entry was received?

Yes you should. It may take a couple of days as I am checking them to see I can open the attachments rather than just setting up an auto reply!

I have a question:

From a corporate design point of view corporate communication including the logo should be the same in any media (print/non print).
Will this logo be featured on the website only or also on business papers such as letter heads, cards etc?

This would affect how the logo has to be prepared for various processes and it's shapes and colors (i.e. black and white compatibility and vectors).

In that context it would be good to know if Elstree already has a predefined CI on which future communication should be based on or the contrary.
From the brief view on the website I could not extract any hints.

The final logo will be used across multiple platforms. Initially the website and COAs. Then business cards, letterheads. Possibly multimedia and apps in the future.

By that. Nature it will require the logo to be in multiple formats/qualities and possibly colours i.e. full colour and grey scale. I foresee it will probably be required as a jpeg, vector and possibly animated!?!

The issue for me was that some of the above is not possible for some RPF members and i did not want them excluded from the competition. In my day job I work along side some top graphic designers in both 2d and 3d for many platforms - video, web, etc. It is my intention to enlist their help where needed to tweek the winning design to fit the final format needed. Of course if the winner is able to provide their design in the required formats then I need not bother.

It was my feeling that the best part of an RPF competition was the inclusiveness and fun, not the limitations of technology/experience.

And the end of the day I just want people to have a go!

Will users post their designs in this thread?

I want to see what people come up with.

It was not my intention to show any entries until the end of the competition. If you would like to enter and also post a copy on this thread I do not have a problem with that.
