Finally had a breakthrough!
While the photos aren't too pretty, I'm quite proud of finally getting the resin powder to work how I wanted it. It's just dark enough, and not too bright of a finish. I used very light washes of black dyes to get into the cracks to fill in those details, but not too much.
But the best way to patina a metal cold-cast is with black shoe polish. The cake stuff in the metal cans, not the liquid kind. I use Kiwi and work it into the cracks and crevices with a cut down chip brush. Give it just a few minutes and then buff it with a cotton t-shirt rag before clear coating it. Can't beat the results.
I've been playing too much Skyrim as well. But not enough to start doing projects but the thought had crossed my mind several times! Great job on the sculpting!
