Efx X Wing

Hey folks,

I've added posted some X-wing screensavers up on www.efxcollectibles.com in the downloads section in anticipation of the release announcement.

Look for an email with some exciting details of the actual release soon. We've been working hard to make our first FX Model extra special, and I hope you'll like what's coming your way :)

Hey, folks don't be surprised if there is a pilot figure I know eFX and I don't think this will leave the factory without a few surprises for the fans. I have a feeling the R2 is going to be especially impressive.

Great model~!

I'm REALLY interested in this model.
I want to know the retail price for it.???

Hey Lee, yes there is a rumor flying around (pun intended) that the model will include a Luke pilot figure... ;)

We're firming up details for the full offering as I type and will make the announcement shortly as to price, availability and EXACTLY what you're gonna get for your money.

Thanks Barry. It is nice to see a company respond to the people who buy thier products. As we have seen recently, the company you guys used to work for no longer seems to know how to treat thier customers.

Here's a small tease :)

R2 is 1" W x 7/8" H digitally modeled by Mike Verta.

Well, mostly modeled by Mike Verta, anyway :) Those HP's obviously went through a touch of interpretation, but I'm amazed at how much they were able to actually get out at this scale - my file was extremely detailed! Outstanding work, Barry!!!

Excellent work. I'd love to get hold of a whole R2 at this scale. Was this based off of your hyper detailed version?

Yes, it's a slightly refined version of the R2 I did for the Star Wars Complete Visual Dictionary. That project was under an extremely tight deadline, so in the time since, I've had opportunities to shore up a few details. There is no "one" R2; there are several variations, and over the years, legs, domes and bodies have swapped configurations. The R2 I did is a hybrid of my favorite bits from 3 original R2's which I surveyed with Don Bies at the Archives. Here is a side-by-side of my current CG R2, next to an original at ILM. This CG R2 is the basis for the eFX X-Wing R2. (ILM on left, mine on right.)

We were fortunate enough to become acquainted with Mike as we were starting over on our version of the X-wing. Mike was generous enough to offer up his digital R2, which as you folks can see is simply incredible. eFX jumped at the chance to include an accurate version of R2 with our model. R2's front red light and fibre optic rectangles light up, which is fun.

We were very lucky to have the involvement of many knowledgeable folks on this project, Mike with his R2 and Frank and Moe who helped source kit bits and provided critiques etc. It's nearly there, folks, and work starts in earnest on the next one :)
