I have the choice of either the EFX or RS prop masters Red 5 Luke helmets. Wanted to know which is the more screen accurate between the two? Thanks.
Perfect. I’ve actually already got the celebration Mark signed plaque, so an ESB variant will go nicely with it. thanks for the answer.EFX is a bit big and way more expensive (generally) than RS. I paid a TON to get the ESB signature edition EFX and I loved it. The quality was okay but it was a licensed product and it had Mark’s actual signature.
Eventually I started not to care as much since I wasn’t “there” when it was signed. I ordered a custom RS prop ESB variant of the helmet by sending them the screen caps from the movie I wanted them to emulate. Waaaaay more actuate. Size was Better. And a fraction of the cost. Go with RS.
I have several of the RS Props X Wing pilot helmets. They are very nice quality.
However, for people who want it to feel like an actual helmet, they may not be a good choice. Some don't like ABS. They aren't for those people.
It depends if you want a prop replica or something that feels like a real helmet.
These are very cool. Sorry for the dumb question, but does RS do custom helmets if you ask them to that aren’t part of what is listed on their website?Definitely go with RS Props. I've a few of their x-wing helmets now - some signature series and some commissioned - and they quality of work, detail and customer service is all of a very high standard, plus they are screen accurate in size and shape.
As others have said, the Efx is slighly large and expensive. SDS is closer in size although has inaccuracies in terms of some dimensions on top of the visor (I also have a couple purchased many, many years ago) and it probably sits somewhere in between the two in terms of screen accurate size but I would absolutely not buy from them.
Pic of some of my RS x-wing helmets - not the best picure from my phone and the angle distorts somewhat but the helmets are all works of art.
Why yes, I do.Does anyone have a photo of an efx and RS x-wing helmet together?
Why yes, I do.

The last one’s not centered. So Luke’s helmet, which is bigger, looks way bigger.
Thanks for the comparisonsWhy yes, I do.

You’re so very welcome. Happy I could help. Thanks for the comparisons
Just to update my post, I decided one day to see if I could try to bend the microphone away from my face and yes I was able to. Now it's positioned comfortably. Just be careful if you try it too.I'm happy with my RS X-Wing helmets. The only thing I didn't like was the position that the microphone is attached. Its too close to the face so when I'm wearing the helmet, the mic is literally pushing against my lips.
If you only plan on displaying it only, it's not a problem at all but if you plan on doing any trooping or just trying on the helmet once in a while, the mic makes it unwearable.
I plan on getting Red 5 eventually and when I do, I'm going to ask Andrea (their customer service rep) if they could extend the length of the mic or at least reposition it in a more ergonomic way. They're very accommodating at RS so I don't doubt they would do it if requested.
