eFX McQuarrie Vader Helmet Pre-Order!

Some people at RS are starting to get antsy. Some feel that EFX may go under. I don't have anything solid myself, and really hope this does not happen.

EFX always take a long time getting things out. I really doubt that a company that just showed all of the prototypes they did at Comic Con is going out of business. This is just a bunch of people that don't like how long it takes for things to get done that start rumors that have no basis in the truth.

I just saw the update below at EFX Collectibles:

One thing I'm not happy about - they've already dropped the price of the ESB Stormtrooper bucket to $145 shipped.

UPDATE! Due to the time it takes to properly paint the helmets, the
first 150 pieces are expected to ship from Asia at the end of August.
The balance of helmets is scheduled to ship a few weeks later. In order
to get the proper finish, our vendor in Asia actually sent the helmets
to an auto painting vendor! Each helmet would take 15 days to paint,
clear coat and polish.

I really really dislike this helmet, but the news about the painting makes me happy. That means we might not have so many issues when the ANH Vader is released.

Sounds fishy to me. The company they chose to produce these isn't equipped to paint them?!

One possibility is the "final" product delivered in July didn't meet their standard so they had to bring in a 3rd party to fix it. Just one theory based on the little information available...

Not that many people are tracking this but looks like the McVader helmets may not be on doorsteps until late October. According to EFX, they are due to leave China Sep 30th but this is at least the 3rd change in shipping dates.

But again - I would rather wait for a solid product than a rushed one.

It's China man. Who knows how these things work?

Not just this product...but what...we do not have ONE qualified painter here in the whole United States of America??? Hell, the work I've seen and have personally displayed in my home that has been done by artists on this board certainly could handle this. How about keeping something like this in the US for the next project???

Because a US Artist will charge a heck of a lot more for his services and push the price of the helmet out of the reach.
