So I was just checking the mail on an old email address, which is something that I do a couple times a week, and boy am I glad that I did! This old email address of mine was on EFX's mailing list, and I was shocked and amazed to see the announcement that their McQuarrie concept Stormtrooper helmet will be up for pre-order starting tomorrow!

I figured that this thing was dead and buried, it's been so long. Talk about perfect timing, or "divine intervention," or whatever...

Anyway, it's a little too dirty for my liking, but it won't stop me from getting one. I still kick myself for not buying one of their McQuarrie concept Vader helmets, back when they were still affordable.

I'm going to print one for about $20 instead of paying $900+. I got that email and couldn't believe what they're charging for this stuff now! I get that it's fiberglass, but I could print one, mold it in fiberglass, still come in hundreds of dollars below that and looks just as good.

I want to be clear I'm not crapping on it, it looks great. It just seems like under Disney they just said "Those suckers will pay ANYTHING!" and jacked up prices.

Indeed. And I'm one of those suckers!

I just think of all the time that I would have to put into a kit. And then I think of all the OTHER McQuarrie helmet kits that I STILL haven't touched.

Beautiful helmet and they will probably quadruple in price and then some if only they were around $500 that would be brilliant I have a few Anovos Helmets but you can't can't keep forking out $1000 per helmet unless you have money to burn like Elon or The 48th Ronin love the extra comment about all the extra kits that are just laying around LOL most of us mere mortals are lucky to buy 1 helmet a year without the Wife threating divorce.

I'm with you bud at $1000 plus dollars in AUD plus shipping just not affordable for me 3D print sounds the way , it's a dope helmet put not on my must have list

$700 plus shipping, 21% VAT and customs, would make this almost double ($1200-1400). I would not get one if it was $200, but happy for those who want it, it looks ok, not great, ok. This is simply because, despite the fact that I can afford it, no problem there, I don't like EFX and their lack of respect for their customers, and don't want them to get a single penny out of my pocket. EFX can shove their products where the twin suns of Tatooine don't shine.

The 48th Ronin - thanks for posting! I dig these McQuarrie concepts designs. I've seen the Vader helmet in a friend's collection - it is an impressive piece and I have no doubt this one will be as well. Please share some pics when you get this gem!

Yeah, I'm a HUGE McQuarrie fan, so this was a must-have (regardless of EFX's reputation, in some people's estimation).

I just paid my deposit, so now I wait. It's supposed to ship Q4 of this year, but I guess we'll have to wait and see if that actually holds. They have been better recently about getting product out, right? Right?

It’s a beautiful helmet but the price is absolutely outrageous.

This is a very cool offering, but does it look too different from the concept art? The lower portion of the helmet doesn’t jut out as much in the concept. It looks less snout-ish than the EFX version.

I think it’s mostly based on this image. Longer snout like the EFX helmet.

They overdid it on the weathering IMO.

But yeah, 1K is a hard pass anyway.

Yes. Weathering is definitely overdone.

The temptation is great on this one since it pairs well with the EFX McQ Vader.

The 48th Ronin - congrats on getting in on this limited run. I'm a big McQuarrie fan myself and if my hobby budget wasn't aimed at another stormtrooper-related gem at the moment, I'd be seriously considering getting in line with you. This helmet has been on my list for awhile. Fingers crossed for ya that they ship in Q4!

Whilst I love RMQ's art and have numerous books of his art, I'm not one for buying collectibles based on concept art. I would rather save my money for collectibles from the films & TV shows.
I was slightly tempted by this until I saw the price. I really don't see how this costs so much more than either the recent Armorer or Bo Katan helmets. Then if I add on shipping to the UK, duty and 20% VAT it probably gets to around $1500!
Then there is also the issue of the weathering. IMHO it should be clean to match the art work
If it had been around $700, clean, and available at distributors I may have talked myself in to buying it
I dread to think how much that Vader Reveal helmet will be as that I really do want

My guess is this one includes tariff costs, the others didn't.
