EFX Limited Vader

Ok, I didn't really think there needed to be another thread about th EFX Vader, but I dind't wnat to post in all these controversial threads. One thing that has been kinda got me thinking is how come no one is really talking about the Limited. I know the differences and that the Legend is the bees knees, but I'm extremely excited about the limited. I've had anot of ANH buckets, VM, JB and a couple others and this is the best IMO. I've never really cared much about the scrapes in the paint enough to want to replicate it as I want it to look like Vader more than the prop mask Prowse wore. I'm not looking for anyone to post to make me feel better about getting this helmet as I am very excited. I love the way the paint looks clean, but not perfectly glassy and glossy like ESB and ROTJ. It looks the way most see it on screen(without screen caps and zooming in looking for the scrapes).
My question I guess is....do most on this board find it not pleasing. I'm glad for all that got the Legend, but it really seems over shadowed by it and that surprises me.
Congrats to all that got either helmet!:)

Re: EFX Limted Vader

This could have gone in the other Vader thread. See, this is what gets people...they see those heated debates and feel ostracized by them. You have to get in there and get your feet wet. You will be fine.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Sorry Qui, I didn't intend to clutter the board with a redundant thread. It seems if you don't respond directly to the argument, questions and general comments about the bucket i question get over looked.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

I happen to like to Limited Edition because it is idealized. So, even though I had the chance to get the Legend, I went for the Limited Edition instead.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Same here . The thing looks soo good. Idealized doesn't mean heavily modified...just a tad cleaner. I can't wait.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Both eFX versions are above and beyond most of what is available. No doubts there. Even sanitized, the Limited is still pretty damn desirable. If you have no interest in the bumps and scratches and what-not, then there's no better offering than this one.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Well, you are on a board with a bunch of detail oriented "we want it as close to the original as possible" fanatics. When given the choice between pretty and less accurate or ugly and extremely accurate, ugly certainly wins. Also, I believe that the overshadowing is more so because those that scrutinize over the little details of this helmet are FAR more vocal than those that are ok with what it is.

Personally, I'm ecstatic about getting a Legend, but, I am also one of these extremely detail oriented people concerned about getting the closest thing I can find to the original. However, since I am no longer in any of those circles that would help me procure helmets of such pedigree, I'm happy with what I got and find it unnecessary to complain about details in a helmet I won't do better than. Just MHO.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

IMO the limited edition is on par with the legend. Both come from the same mold.

When you buy the legend you are getting someone's interpretation of what the original was.

When you buy the limited edition you get an improved/cleaned up version of the original mold...I.e. Once again, Someone's interpretation of what a pristine version of the ANH should look like.

Only thing that puts the legend ahead of t he le is the low edition size. But then again you pay more. So like i said, both helmets are on par with each other.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

I'm very very detail oriented with this particular helmet, there is zero doubt this Legendary helmet is the best that will likely ever be available to the public. It is far less sanitized than the Limited edition and certainly stands within the top five all time best Vader helmets. That's quite a standing in my book. It has the same pedigree with most of my favorite other helmets. That alone is something to celebrate!

Don't let those early eFX photos from CV fool ya, Review that eFX thread again and note the photos that gino posted which were supposedly production photos rather than prototype photos. The main issue (warpage of prototype dome) has been corrected from what I can tell.

I don't believe you'll find a better pedigree helmet for a better price fully decorated like that. Try this on for size.......a super duper hand painted and weathered version of a pedigree ANH helmet paint job ...not counting the cost of the helmet itself...............is nearly the price of this helmet in it's painted and finished glory by eFX.

The tiny loss of detail won't detract from the overall value of this piece whatsoever. It may not be for everyone, but I am sorry I missed out on it! If the factories overseas do this helmet justice, I believe this helmet will be the centerpiece of many many people's collection. :)

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Frankly, I'm shocked that the Limited Edition not only hasn't sold out already but the bar still shows something over 50% of stock available!!

Is the Vader helmet market so over-saturated that there aren't 1000 people in the entire world who would want this piece of artistry?

Re: EFX Limted Vader

I think it's more of a niche issue more than anything man. I don't believe you'll find eFX collectible items in your typical mall or toy stores. I think the majority of people who buy it already knew about it before it arrived much like us here. If this were somehow advertised to the general public, they probably couldn't keep up with demand. It's also not for the folks who are scraping their pennies together each month to pay bills. $800 doesn't come easy when you have to decide if it's gas or groceries.

My only guess is that the Hype with the legend was such that some could feel like the limited is a consolation prize.
Some comments out there might feel like the Legend is the only one worth buying.
Perhaps is low times with the economy and all.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

eFX did it wrong. Specially the hardcore collectors like us would pay 800$ - 1000$ for a Vader helmet, but collectors like us would just buy the Legend edition for the price. They should have made at least 500 pieces of the Legend and 500 of the Limited. This way they would have sold all the stock.

My guess is there are people who would be interested but don't know it exists. The only reason I knew it existed and was coming was because i'm on this boards. I 'm not on any other collecting or prop boards really where this thing would have come across my radar.

Had the SW BR's come out in early april (instead of this september) and they had an add for the Limited in the packaging, my guess is they'd have all been gone friday.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Here is a question... and the last thing I want to do is start more fighting, but I personally don't care for the ANH Vader and while I don't know the details of each all that well, in looking at photos of the 3, the ESB has always appealed to me the most. To me, the ESB and especially the RotJ seem to be much more clean than the ANH, which seems to be far too grungy for what Vader should be. So my question is, would the limited make a good base for an ESB helmet since it is cleaned up more?

Re: EFX Limted Vader

I'm with Qui on this one.......it's gonna sell out. 50% sold after only 3 days. yeah, it's gonna sell out. I wouldn't ride the fence long either. :)

That's what Vader experts were saying, that the Limited would do a really nice base for ESB.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

Art, I think the limited would make such a splendid ESB and ROTJ that I'm considering getting two of them for that very reason. It will take minimal alteration to achieve that goal too. The Y crease is needed for ESB and of course they both need the chin vent widened. The Y crease is filled in and smoothed in the ROTJ. The Tusk tips will need to be replaced with the pointy variety for both. The rest is just paint. You could probably do this conversion in a day or two. The Dome of course will be the simplest conversions.

Re: EFX Limted Vader

And for God's sake...no clear coat! You have to buff that paint for such a shine. Clear coat is too shiny.

That said, even the ESB had the worms and bubbles and such missing from the Limited. Again, this is still a must have for any ANH Vader helmet lovah!
