EFX DARTH VADER ANH PCR HELMETS (SPECIAL and STANDARD EDITIONS)

Thanks for posting these. The helmet looks great, but like the others, I'm puzzled how they let the c scar look so off. It should be way thinner and more subtle. I still want one, but this will help me to be patient for the general release and not pay an eBay premium.
Don't let our comments take away from your excitement. It is a very nice helmet.
 
Other than the C scar, is there much as far as weathering? I can't see much difference in the paint between the two efx helmets other than the C scar in the photos. I was expecting a more obvious difference in the weathering, but that may be too labor intensive for the cost.

Yikes. That...doesn't look so good. I think the standard version with a repaint would look fantastic. Has anyone done this yet?
 
Thanks for the feedback guys. The paint job (minus the c-scar) is great in person. I really am mostly happy with the helmet. I heard back from EFX today and was told that the c-scar was not a defect. That was my understanding when purchasing although I did not expect it to be so bold. I am waiting on a response for a replacement helmet that is more accurate to what was shown at SDCC and in marketing literature. With that being said, If things don't work out do you guys have suggestions for removing the paint without melting or "hazing" the plastic. Do you also have suggestions on what paint to use? Thanks in advance.
 
Yeah compared to the shots on the first page of this very thread, that is not what we were shown it would look like.
 
Yep, which is why I hesitated and didn't pre-order. There's no reason this should have occurred other than perhaps an intentional inaccuracy. Just my guess.
 
It was painted by some kid in a factory overseas. It isn't going to look exactly like the prototype. You could try scratching at the silver with your fingernail to see if you can thin it up some. If this doesn't work, then hit it with some gloss black paint.
 
Well, now I'm really glad I went with the pristine version. Even if the scar was correct, I actually prefer the cleaner look of mine.
 
FYI, the display helmet at the SDCC booth had a more accurate C scar, but still looked like it was painted on an assembly line.
 
I always envisioned the scar to be more of a scratch through the black paint as opposed to a silver paint app on top of the black paint. If this can't be removed easily, I will get the clean version.
 
Let's hold out and see if other helmets exhibit the same style c-scar. If not, then this helmet is an anomaly. If more turn up, it's a design/production issue. In the first case, EFX should replace the helmet. In the second case, EFX fix the production/finishing line.
 
Well.... Still no response from efx. I'm becoming increasingly frustrated with the whole situation. Any suggestions on how to remove the paint without damaging the plastic?

Well... I'd say fingernail... and then alcohol with fingernail... then it progresses up from there to crazy things like "goof off" and acetone + 600 grit... try the fingernail...
