eFX Announces Ralph McQuarrie will sign Darth Vader Concept Helmet

Wow !!! I´m glad to see that Mr. McQuarrie is of good enough health to do a signing ! :thumbsup

I was really curious to see what concept design you´ll choose to produce, and it´s a real surprise to see the novel cover design come to life. Kudos to your 3D modeller, he captured it quite nicely. I personally would have interpreted the cheek and "jaw bone" areas differently, but as we´ve seen in the past, transforming concept designs into 3D objects is tricky, and the interpretations of what can be seen in a drawing can vary greatly.

I look forward to see more concept design stuff.

The HDSLA process is something that really has to be reckoned with, I guess.

Nice to see this being done; a collectible that I'm really looking forward to! :thumbsup And Ralph McQuarrie's signature to boot!

He was at a con I attended about 10 years back and he signed some of his "Art of" prints from SW. He seems like a really cool guy.

We do not have the license to make mini helmets.

Though limiting for your company, I'm sure I'm not the only one pleased to know that your future helmet offerings will be fullsized.

It'll be interesting to see the final version of this!

Cool looking helmet, but I agree about OT Vader. It would be great to get a Vader helmet that actually looks like the original Vader helmets did. None has ever quite captured it. No licensed piece, anyway.

If that is a cg model, there is dust and scratches on it. LOL That 's some good CGing!!!! I'd be willing to bet that it's a proto. I know Ralph McQuarrie was photographed holding a .45 scale helmet, so it' wouldn't be a stretch to think there is a hardcopy of the full scale helmet too.

Dave :)

It was the only way they could ensure the pieces would completely sell through is having McQuarrie sign them ;)

The helmet is really cool and even better if Ralph McQuarrie signs some of them! But I'd rather wait for an OT Vader!

Guys,

eFX hasnt produced a 1:1 proto yet - there's only been the CG models - which I've been giving them some help on.

I think it'll be some time before we get to see a "proper" prototype - I'll of course be pushing to get my hands on it for a review as soon as I can

Cheers

Jez
