Edward Nashton - Pre-Riddler

Hey, all.

I've been inspired to do a very simple costume - well, when I say "costume", really, it's just everyday clothing.

Inspired by the design seen in "Batman: Arkham Origins", the man who will become the Riddler is part of the GCPD, but that is just a cover for more malicious plans...

Since he's yet to appear as a fit, spandex-wearing super villain, I'd go as far as to say that body figure doesn't matter, which is a bonus for me, being a big guy (not as big as Harvey Bullock, though...). The costume merely consists of a shirt, tie, tank-top, trousers (or black jeans - it could be a casual Friday), shoes, fingerless gloves, and a GCPD ID badge.

But that's one part where I have encountered a problem - the GCPD ID badge. I've done some research, but there's hardly anywhere that does custom ID badges - or, at least, one for a fictional place. Try doing that on an ordinary ID badge site...there might be some trouble ahead.

Can anyone recommend a good place online to get a custom cosplay ID badge? Anything will help :)

The tank-top has been ordered, and I'm settling on a plain black tie until I can find myself a suitable tie for the costume.

Now, for the ID card...I have a mock-up done in Paint, but without access to Photoshop, it doesn't look very professional (as you can see below). Any help to edit it to look more professional would be greatly appreciated :)

Also, once I decide to make the ID card, can anyone suggest any websites that do completely custom novelty cards?

I will be watching this, and waiting very hopefully :D

Thank you very much :D

The tank top has arrived, and completes the part well (unfortunately, attempting to take self-shots have proved disastrous - if I happen to wear this sometime during a Comic Con (maybe even the Wales Comic Con in April! Who knows?), then I will be able to post pictures of myself in costume then :) Stay tuned!

If you're going to design the card yourself, why not just print it and get it laminated. buy a lanyard and your done.

or, just buy this:

Gotham Police Department Logo Captain Batman ID Card From the Identity Props Store

You know what? Those aren't bad ideas - whilst I search for someone who can improve the design I have, I can buy the one you've linked, and print my own version - having three varieties of ID cards to choose from! :lol

I'm watching, I am waiting, I am..... The Dark Knight!!!!!!!! All joking aside this seems very promising :) I may have to do this sometime :) I have button up shirts and will soon be getting more vests :) I have the right glasses and natural red hair :D

Cool :)

The Riddler interpretation in the Arkham series has very dark brown hair, which is perfect for me.

I love the games, and kinda wish they stuck with the red hair, but I understand why :) Maybe I can just go as him when talking to Bats as he is taking down the comms towers. A black Lycra suit and black button up shirt, black vest and all that and just call myself the Enigma silhouette, lol

One thing I needed to consider for this costume was weather conditions - in the winter, I don't think just the clothes listed are going to prevent the Riddler from getting a tiny bit chilly outside when travelling.

Luckily, I found a cheap black trench coat on eBay, and have ordered it. Not dispatched yet, but when it has come, I'll let you know.

Another thing I need to consider is if I do go to a Comic Con dressed in this attire as Pre-Riddler, who would recognise me as the character? He wasn't into the question mark business back then, so the only way people will recognise the character is through the ID card (which has still not been ordered - need to organise a passport-esque photo to be taken and scanned digitally). What would be better as an ID Card, though?

"Police IT Consultant
Edward NASHTON"

or -

"Police IT Consultant
E.NYGMA"

I'm leaning more towards the E.NYGMA version, but any opinions would be greatly appreciated :)

Trench coat's arrived - and it looks perfect for the character!

Meanwhile, I'll get a passport-style photo taken next time I see a friend who has a camera, and I'll order an ID card from the guy that was recommended to me earlier in the thread. Stay tuned!

The photo's ready - now all I need to do is wait for a reply from the company about the ID Card, then order it!

Well, the card came!

I decided to go with E.NYGMA in the end, although I might get another with Nashton on it.

I can safely say, thanks to the arrival of the lanyard and card holder, this costume is officially complete! I may make some variants to the overall design to keep it fresh, but the overall costume is complete!

I can't promise pictures at the moment, but if I should attend a Comic Con in the future, I'll be sure to get some pictures taken - stay tuned :)

So, as I've previously said, I have officially completed the main base of this costume, and I hope to debut it soon! I unfortunately was not able to attend the Wales Comic Con due to costs, and will possibly not attend any Comic Cons outside of Wales, let alone the UK. But still...fingers crossed!

So, I want to show you what I have so far - and any variants I have planned :)

001.JPG
The shirt is just a plain white dress shirt. The jumper is a navy blue tank top - when inside, the shirt will not be tucked in and the sleeves rolled up, in keeping with his appearance in Arkham Origins.

002.JPG
The tie is a black-on-black two tone houndtooth, patterned slim tie.

The trousers (not pictured) are a plain grey, held up with a brown belt.

003.JPG
The coat (for outdoors, possibly in the winter months) is a plain black, with a double breasted closure and a belt.

004.JPG
Before the derby, there was the fedora...inspired by his appearance in the comic book series "Zero Year", E.Nygma wears a plain black fedora curled slightly at the sides to blend in with the Gotham crowds.

So, the base costume in it's fullest...
005.JPG
Wearing the coat, the shirt will be tucked in - classy.

Also being worn will be black fingerless gloves.

Now, I may have completed the base, but that doesn't mean I am finished with this costume. No, I have a few more variants in store.

Here's what I've got planned to buy:

~ Green and black striped tie - more in touch with Arkham Origins
~ Olive green trousers/chinos - again, Arkham Origins
~ Green clip-on braces (or suspenders) - to show his more geeky side
~ Green bow tie - again, geeky

Have any other suggestions? I will be more than happy to hear them :)

Hi guys - I've got a problem, and I need your help!

I'm planning to go to the November Wales Comic Con in Wrexham (anyone else planning on going?), and I've been thinking about what costume to wear. There are two routes I can go down:

1) I really want to wear this costume, but there's the small possibility that people won't recognise me as Edward Nygma (before the Riddler).

2) There's a costume in the works for another DC villain (won't reveal who yet...or if you read my signature, you'll know who). Completing this costume requires constructing the vital piece....with money that I don't have.

Any advice would be appreciated!

So, I attended the Wales Comic Con in Wrexham just a few hours ago, and being my first con, it was awesome! So many impressive cosplayers, and I got to chat with Matt Elliott (MattEleven, Eleventh Doctor cosplayer), plus an autograph from Ian McNiece. I also went in my own cosplay, and although I may not have been recognised as Edward Nygma by a lot of people, I did get acknowledged by a few people, which was cool :)

So, here I am with a GCPD SWAT team member I found in the main hall (the only picture I have with any relevance to the DC Universe). Must admit, I should work on the Riddler's trademark smug grin - but all in all, it was a really fun day :D
