Ecto 1 for sale

And here I thought the economy was so bad... Apparently people are bidding and DO have over $45,000 laying around :D

Nice - wish I had me one of those.

It is only "bad" when people are talking about paying for things they don't like (like gas, or mortgage) Looking at ticket sales of movies like TDK, sales of the newest IPhone, and the level of high-tech gadget sales shows that there is still tons of throw away spending happening. Money is not that tight when people really want something:rolleyes
Like this:love

My favorite line from the auction:

"We will work with any bidders to get this piece shippd properly and we will be willing to deliver the car at the bidders expense"

willing to deliver at the bidders expense? how generous!! :lol

Just took a major drop, some one backed out. May have been looking for the reserve price on it.

Whew, the joys of owning an Antique Cadillac Hearse, even if it's the Ecto. They better have six friends ride with them to help push it outta the road, cause it's not a job for one, (6500 lbs+) and they aren't reliable, no matter how complete the restoration. Having had four, I can attest to that.

Actually, the last one I saw go on sale a couple of years back had an asking price of US$150,000.00, so this is a bargain :lol

Be seeing you,

$45K is a lot of money for a replica.

That's the odd thing, it's not entirely a replica. It is "official" in the eyes of Sony, it was used at Universal Studios as the Ghostbusters car. It certainly wasn't used in the movies themselves, but it's as close as one can get with it's pedigree.

And can you imagine how expensive the real one would be?

if I remember rightly dan ackroyd owns the one from the first film. in fact, from what I remember of the commentary, they only had 1 of this car for the first film and it actually broke down really badly right as they finished filming it and no longer needing to use it.

Getting it parked isn't the issue, keeping/getting it started is. Stopping it can be an adventure as well.
