EBA Zero G II Airbrush - Opinions

Hi, I'm looking to buy a workhorse makeup brush. I'm still a novice at costume makeup, but I'm tired of the limitations of a cheap gun. I'm intrigued by the EBA Zero G II, especially for the easy clean up and quick color change system, but I know so little that I can't decide if it's worth the steep price tag. I don't mind spending money on quality that I can grow in to, even if it takes time, but can't tell if this is a gimmicky product or not.

Does anyone have experience with this gun or have alternative suggestions?

Thanks!

Gimmick looks like the right word here. You can work just as cleanly and quickly using a paasche H for a fraction of the price. The rest of the airbrushes on the EBA site are cheap Chinese makes with an EBA logo etched on, that are being sold for insane mark ups. That doesn’t inspire confidence in their quality.

A big concern of mine, beyond the ridiculous price, would be the availability of replacement parts. I can’t find any on their site. You’d have to email to inquire I assume. You can find replacement parts for Iwata and Paasche brushes all over the net, as well as in many hobby and craft stores. That’s something to consider. I have been on a job before where I cracked the fluid tip and needed a replacement within the hour. A quick trip to Blick and I was all set.

I would recommend sticking to reputable brands like Paasche and Iwata. If you want the single action, quick change experience that this EBA brush offers, buy a Paasche H and a few extra bottles. If you want something higher end with fantastic performance, buy an Iwata eclipse. It will be a workhorse and serve you well.

Thanks so much for the very helpful tips and suggestions! The replaceability in particular is not something I'd considered. I've looked at the Eclipse and it looks great. I'll look in to the Paasche as well.

Thanks again!
