E-11 options in UK.

Hi guys,

First off, apologies if this has already been covered. I did a search and found some bits and pieces but nothing recent. Basically I'm after an E-11 for display. The ridiculous VCRA legislation makes importing a replica impossible. I've had no luck tracking down a MR E-11 in the UK and to be honest not even sure what the going price for them is in the UK but I've seen them go for over $1000 on eBay in the USA so that puts it out of my price range anyway.

The doopydoos kits are always out of stock and I've had no replies to my emails so I've drawn a line through that. I'm not keen on the Hasbro option and Ive heard the SDS E-11 isn't very good for the money (this was my first choice till I read up about it). I also read the Jedi-Robe replica is pretty poor too. 501st Creations don't make anything any more either. All the blasters on etsy come from overseas too...

Because of aforementioned VCRA I can't get an airsoft or replica sterling unless I'm in film/TV, a re-enactment group or a member of a UKARA registered airsoft site. Getting a deac mk4 sterling is also an option.

I've also been considering a scratch build but haven't found any plans so if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

Can anyone give me some other options?

Thanks,
Jon.

You could go the de-act sterling route. If you shop around you can pick one up for £350, a scope is about a £100 and a counter £30-£120. If you have the spare cash this is the option I'd go for.

Most UK Airsoft shops will sell you one after they re paint about half of it a dayglow colour,Doopys look to have the 40mm pipe kit in stock or it wasn't out of stock last night.
Or go airsofting enough times to get your UKARA registration for the year and buy all the base replicas you need

blaster builders club is a place to check for self builds

Can you import a resin kit into the UK? Have seen recommendations for Pheonix Props in Germany. You should be able to find him on 501st' legions Stormtrooper forum whitearmour.net .

Thanks guys! I must have visited doopydoos a load of times and for some reason I thought the pipe kit was out of stock.

Ive been keeping an eye on the deac market and have occasionally seen them around the £300-£400 mark but always when I don't have the cash to spare. Most of the time I see them for £600 and upwards. As a slightly related but not quite aside I saw a real nice mk6 sterling for £1500 with original shipping box and documents. Apart from being a deac it was almost mint. I'd probably feel too bad about hacking one up for a blaster and it'll end up in the collection and I'll still be looking for an E-11 :)

I'll check out Phoenix props too!

I bought mine from this place:

Maybe you could work out a payment plan and have a Sterling reserved for you? The owner is ex law-enforcement and a really nice guy.

Thanks. I've got that site bookmarked. My problem with buying the deac's is, as well as being a film fan, I'm also a shooter and firearms enthusiast I have a soft spot for historic firearms and the thought of cutting into one or modifying it grates with me a bit :D I have e-mailed a company a few hours from me who makes reproduction firearms to see if they do a sterling. They normally supply re-enactors, film and TV but they can two-tone stuff as well ...which I could in theory, un-two tone.

Thanks! I'm actually waiting for a reply about their E-11.

Argh! Just got a reply from RSPropmasters. They only supply the e-11 with the suits now ...disappointing :(

I did just order the doopydoo pipe blaster kit so I can at least make one to keep the space warm on the shelf whilst I sort out a "proper" one.

If you convert your Sterling wisely then it can be easily stripped back to its original form without any issues. You add the scope and Hengstler on the scope rail and connect the rail in the back sight, cylinders with magnets, t-tracks with double sided tape. No permanent damage to it.

Although you've decided to go with the doopydoo, I wanted to inform you, that deactivated Sterlings are sold here in Germany for £300. But I don't know the British rules concerning demilitarized firearms, so you should always inform yourself well. German rules for eample are very strict and I would never consider to by a deacivated from outside Germany.

And I have exacty the same opinion you have about cutting/modifying a piece of history. I have a deactivated Mauser C96 waiting to be turned into a DL-44. I would hesitate to do the modification, if the company which had deactivated it hadn't butchered it without any interest in its value and appearance. At least I am giving it a new sense.

What to choose is also dependend on what you want to do with it.

I have a E-11 made completely from real parts - for display. I would never use this to run around in public as a Stormie.

For costuming it generates less trouble to have a plastic gun.

Of course the best way is to go with both versions. :D
Or even better: to build your E-11 based on the real deal and then making your own molds for trooping.

Maybe the best thing for trooping nowadays are the very brightly colored Hasbro or Rubies blasters. This is not because of their (crappy) accuracy or sturdiness, but because if the worldwide gun problems and more restrictive gun laws

Hi Guys. I have been involved with deacs for 20 years in my other hobby (military vehicles/WW2 displays)

In the UK carrying deacs is not a problem so long as you are sensible and its in context, ie - part of an event or display and not waving them around in a silly manner. Also I recommend carrying a copy of the deac cert with the words COPY written on it just in case, we all do this at events and have never had a problem if challenged which is rare.

Great forum :D

Im not interested in costuming but if I was I wouldn't even walk around with a toy/resin blaster. I'm looking for one to display at home only.

Are deacs legal to own without the need for any type of license in the UK, just a certificate for the gun itself? Not knowing the legalities I'l probably just stick with a resin cast.
