'Dwayne....its Dwayne' - 1:1 silicon Hicks portrait

Hi everyone.

I just wanted to show off a bust I was commissioned for last year of Michael Biehn as Cpl. Hicks.

Its a great character and I was very lucky to get the oportunity to sculpt him.

It was my first ever attempt at casting silicon but I think it went ok. It wasn't much fun punching all those hairs in but well worth it in the end.

Good fun overall though.

Hudsons up next! :)

Let me know what you all think.

Heres the sculpt:

Heres the painted silicon head without hair:

Here he is with LOTS of hair:

Here he is at the local barbers. It made for some interesting conversation and it cost me the price of 2 haircuts, but it was great to watch:

And here he is in some of my clients armour:

Oh man that is soooo cool. Looks like Curt Cobain in pic number 3 lol.
Hey what do you charge to sculpt a bust. I have a project I'm looking to have done and looking for affordable sculptors. Man, that Hicks is just killer.

In the film, I seem to remember his hair being a little shorter than that.

HOWEVER, that is so realistic, that it's creepy.

Amazing work. :thumbsup :thumbsup

That is looking exceptionally cool... you just gotta rough up the hairdo a bit... as I don't recall him looking so neat with the armor on.

Also, regarding the skin tones. They look good, but imo a bit too translucent and latexy... though have no clue how it can be toned down.

Totally killer and lovely story about the hair-stylist! :thumbsup

EDIT: totally forgot to comment on the sculpt, which imo is the best I have ever seen of Michael Biehn... EVER! :cheers

Looks scary realistic, the details, everything...he looks alive!

But he looks a little more like a young John Voight than Michael Beihn

wow...Hicks looks great! I'll you post full body pics later? I want to see full sized aliens next fighting Hicks :p

That is soooooo damned amazing, I'm lost for words......

Congratulations :thumbsup

Cheers,

Kraig

PM sent :thumbsup

Nexus6, NoHumorMan and Tazvader: I'd have to agree about the hair. I think the main problem was that I actually punched in too many hairs which made it look alot fuller and it stands out a little too much. The hair is the right length and style - theres just too much of it!

As for the stubble, I was a bit hesitant to put any on for fear of messing it up at such a late stage and the client was very happy with him as he was.

The skin tones didn't photograph very well and looked alot more impressive in person, but in saying that, I am going to try a different method next time.

My clients got all the gear and I think hes planning a kind of diarama with Hudson. He is also working on an Alien. It'll be a long while before hes finished but it'll be exciting to see when he has.

WOW!!! that is awesome!

You should do a bishop as well! would be cool for a hacked up bust of him! ;)

Very impressive and lifelike work! would love to be able to work with that stuff...

Just saw this on the Legacy boards.
Stunning.

If I ever win the lottery, and can afford a set of TE Hudson armour, you're getting an email next! :)

Beautiful work! The hair looks accurate to me but could use alittle grease as others have mentioned. Skintones look pretty good from the pics...I bet they'd look awesome in the right lighting! :thumbsup

So, how much? :D

Very, very nice work!

How long did it take you to sculpt that from the initial ball of clay to having the thing cast in silicone?

Again, nice job!

Russ

My god. Thanks everyone. I am truely humbled :cool

dropshipbob That is simply amazing! And from my favorite film too!!

Do you plan to make copies, or was this a one-off?
One of my favourites also. And it gave me a great excuse to watch the movie over and over again! :D
PM sent by the way.

Here in the UK, that is legally binding :lol
If I may ask, in my naive newbyness, what is 'legacy boards'?

Rook 3 So, how much? :D

A crate of Budweiser and a monkey and its all yours. I'm easy

The sculpt took about 2 months which is about a month longer than it should have! And the moulding and casting was over in a couple of weeks.

Thanks again everyone.

Hey Wily! Maybe you sholud do a run huh? Who's in?

BTW I think the idea of a Bishop would be awesom. I'd be quite happy with an unchopped version though LOL The materials I think would lend themselves quite nicely to the look he has in ALIENS.

WEL WELL WELL DONE:)

Admiration
