DrWho Eccleston Jacket

Hi all

I am going to buy a 9th dr jacket and I am wondering if anyone has got any tips. I have been trying to decide between the Indy Magnoli jacket or the BadWolf version. It looks like from the photos that BadWolf.com knocked it out of the ballpark but wanted to see if anyone had one and could give an opion on accuracy/quality. The Magnoli Jacket is close in price (and I have heard many times about the quality of his products) but does not look as accurate as the BadWolf does. I am not really a costumer but love that jacket.

They are both fairly expensive and I wanted some info from someone who owns one.

Thanks for any help.

I've seen different images of a magnoli 9th doctor jacket than the ones on his site, it looked very impressive. Can't remember where I saw it - he might know.

Between those two I'd get the Bad Wolf Jacket. I've heard generally good things about the quality of the Jacket although sometimes the turnaround takes a much longer time than they state.

My alternate recommendation if the Wested jacket which is pretty nice and if you ask me best bang for the buck being about half or less than what the other two cost.

I'll be picking up my custom Eccleston coat at Wested in two days and I got the thing for $290 (no shipping included). For that I got accurate collars and custom fitting. The only problem is that the liner isn't accurate, it's just brown, which is fine I guess because the sleeve liner on the exhibition coat is almost brown from grime and the body is fleece, which is way too warm for where I live. Wested does great quality work, and for the money I don't think you can beat their jacket.

I have one from a company called "Wear Wolf". The lining is accurate, and it's a really solid jacket. The lapels seem a little off to my eyes though.

Could you shoot a pic's when you pick it up? It looked like the lapels were off and the buttons were up to high in the photo of the black one (looked like it was correct on the brown one????). I have a wested Indy jacket and love it. That could be another route if it is accurate to the who jacket.

I won't be able to upload any pics until I get back to the states on the 23rd, and I might be a bit too wiped out to do it immediately, but I sure will get around to it.

I never heard of Wear Wolf before. Is there a web site? Can you post a pic of your jacket?

As for what to buy, so far the Wested seems like the best bet. Yeah the lining might be off but for not too much money it can be relined with the correct lining. Distressing is a it tough. I seen that blog thread where someone bought their distressed brown and then dyed it black so when it distressed it had a brownish color to the distressing. That looked pretty good to me.

That's what I'm planning on doing.

So here's the news. Peter kind of ignored my request on the collar altogether. He said the collar was a different shape than the standard pattern, but I think he lied. It looks pretty pointy to me. The fit is also pretty crap, but I guess Eccleston's wasn't exactly a perfectly tailored fit. It'll serve it's purpose for the costume, but I don't think I'll ever wear it just because, so in that regard I'm pretty disappointed. I'll probably dye it black and properly distress it, then let it go in the junkyard. Somebody who's a size up from me (roughly a 41) would probably fit it quite well.

Well that sucks, I was hoping I could save some cash and go with the Wested if that had nailed it. :unsure.

Avoid the celebswear jacket at all costs. It is a cheap alternative in all respects. I went with that initially because I thought a cheap one would be close enough for me (it was not!!!). It looked totally wrong and fell apart within two weeks :lol. Overall not a very productive endeavor.

I am really considering the BadWolf but have not heard back from them yet. I was hoping I could see one that someone had actually received to see what it looked like instead of just the promo photos on the site.

That DOES suck. If the size is right I'd probably buy it off you. I take a Large myself. If it's a Large you got it would probably fit me. Post some pics when you can.

Ok I am looking at the BadWolf and it looks like there might be some differences from the real one (I think the photos of the jacket on the stand with the shirt under it is the real jacket and not a copy as I had originally thought). Are those gussets on the back of the real one or is there some stitching about an inch away from the seams on the back? I do not see that on what I think is the replica in the photo on the right. I wish I could find a few good shots of the actual replica jacket.

I just found a pretty good looking base jacket for Nine that's a DKNY label used. It's missing the belted back, belted 'cuffs' and the lower die flapped pockets though. Before I buy this I'm wondering how easy it would be to add these to the jacket if I found a good matching leather? If not, I'll just skip it and buy the Wested.

The custom sizing he did basically made it a 40L. I'm used to really well tailored jackets, so I was a bit thrown by how boxy it is, but it probably is approximately a true 40. It's just a bit longer than standard because I'm tall. I'll take some pictures soon, I just got back and I have to figure out when my classes start tomorrow, etc.

Here we go. This jacket was a gift, it was used, which suited me perfectly as I don't like to buy new leather items.

Dang, that sleeve liner fabric is almost dead on. What does the body liner look like? Overall, it's a REALLY good looking coat. I don't know a lot of the specifics of the Eccleston coat, but it looks nearly spot on to me. How does the leather wear? Does it show brown through?

That jacket looks great!!!

From looking at there web site it looks like they have the details that I pointed out on the back of the coat correct. Sweet!!!

It is kind of interesting that so many of the details match the original so well and Wear Wolf does not seem to market it as a DrWho Jacket ???

I'm just as pleased looking at those button holes and how they're made as well as the belt on the back. So many people leave the belt too long or the shape of the end of the belt too straight. This looks great and his used jacket looks like it falls right. I think that this jacket may actually surpass the Wested version. I mean the devil is in the details as they say but this does indeed look fantastic!
