after ages of looking for dreadrings i found a good material at last!! they are called reducers, i think they are used for pipework or something. they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes and dirt cheap. i picked up 50 from my work for a tenner! im now in the process of painting them so i will post pics when they are done. im not exactly sure where you can buy these but as i said i got mine from my work which is an electrical store www.electriccenter.co.uk if anyone is going to use these then its probably best if you just go in a store and ask for them rather than order online cause i think you have to have an account with them.

ok ok ok ok! lol heres a pic of them painted they look yellow in this pic but they aint quite that bright IRL... strange. the colour is "yellow ochre" which was the closest colour i could find at the store i got the paint from ;)

wow those r great idea!
try sum wires and form them like a face hugger or sumthing and then glue em ,,, it might work to look like small markings
great job! ;)

IF they are plastic you could just attack them with a lighter and melt some random patterns into them.

cheers mate ;)

just installed them and heres how they look

just went down to a store to buy some antique gold acrylic as its darker and looks alot more aged than this yellow ocre colour that i have now. they were bloody sold out of it though so ordered some online hopefully be here within a few days will post pics again when ive finished painting them... again lol.

dude, just my 2 pence worth but i would prob make some different sizes, bash em up a bit and age em. weather em and ****.

lookin good though matey!!!!

The reducers appear to be what we here in the states call PVC pipe couplers. They have a thin lip in the middle of the inside that hold well to foam dreds, and come in a varity of diameters. Cheep from most hardware stores that sell plumbing supplies.Easy to carve and paint.

I have NOT given anyone the rights to recast my work. I am absolutely PISSED! at this! I even gave about 20 extra rings at no charge as a kind gesture. Please do not buy anything from him if he is selling them. I make almost no money off my work as it is.
