Drax Pants

So besides the obvious problem of figuring out the full body paint and best practice, I need to do Drax's pants for January.

The problem is, I have no idea where to even start.

Could anyone give me some recommendations, or possibly even someone who would be open to doing a commission for this? I figured I could start with the belt, that probably be the easiest thing to put together, the rest of the pants, well, I have no idea. Same with the boots.

Would love some help, still new around here to cosplaying.

Well, for Star-Lord's pants I'm using a base pair of motorcycle pants and basically sewing on another layer by adding the contrasting and detail fabrics over top. I can sew, but not well enough to do them from scratch, so that's my plan. I think I saw one guy on here who had a pair of pants commissioned. Can't think of which thread was his, but I'd imagine any cosplay commissioner could make them with the right reference pictures. Probably gonna' really cost you tho.

And for the makeup, I'd do PAX on the arms and torso, and a matching Ben Nye or Mehron cream makeup. Set with Neutral Set powder and Final Seal spray. :)

Thanks for moving it to marvel guys, didnt think of that.

That makes sense, I guess I could sew on the designs. I thought about 3d printing out the belt components and the blades. I will have to try and track down the guy who had them commissioned if its still around here. Do you have any references of someone to talk to who you know who can commission it?

As far as the makeup I think I have a plan.

I am going to cast my upper body, and then using clay sculpt out all the tattoo scars, and then do a little latex coat over the whole thing. Then cut out each segment into a few pieces, and glue them onto an under armor long sleeve. Paint over that and then paint the scars, and just use body paint to tie the rest of it into the body.

Out of curiousity what is PAX?

I cant find any images of his tattoos though.

Nope, sorry. I've never comissioned anything before.

PAX is a body paint that if a mix of Pros-Aide adhesive and non-toxic acrylic paint. You could do a base of the base color, set it, then add the design on top. There's tutorials online, and when done right it looks really good. More realistic than your idea, but your idea sounds like it'll make for less time getting ready every con. Whatever you wanna do. :)

Could you actually paint on the designs that would have depth to them, not just flat reading color?

I asked Drax if I could do a wax paper shading on him lol that's the best answer I can give you at this time =P

Thank you so so so much! I might take the 2ds, and try and draw them out onto a stencil, paste the stencil on the busy and scultp in the holes, probably the best way to start that out, thank you again so much, I will try and wing the under part of the arm as much as I can. Definitely going to sink a lot of time into sculpting it.

I definitely will, it might be a month before i create the cast of my body, I want to bulk out a little more first, and then cast it so I get a better point to start with, I dont want to cast it then blow up and it be all stretched, but, I figured the pants pieces will be first to get started. Definitely keep posting!

OMG I am stealing all of those references, lol! I have some, but you guys have a bunch I've never seen. No idea when I'm going to try my fem!Drax, but I want to learn to sculpt so I can sculpt/cast/mould the scars and attach them to an undershirt type of thing. I am not doing full body paint, lol!
